Re: [OT: $10,000 Cornell Field Goal Kicks] - 20 years ago
The bear problem needs its own thread. But I will say this: The bears used to entertain. They'd do stunts, tricks, and skits. I was lucky enough to participate in some of the intermission entertainment several times. Now if there's no candy, the bear has nothing to do!? I'd rather have no bear than a lame bear.by rhovorka - Hockey

Re: Freedom of Speech - 20 years ago
I can't find the policy on the Cornell Athletic's web site or via a Google search so can someone fill me in on what is printed on the tickets and/or the signs at Lynah? TO THE HOLDER OF THIS TICKET This ticket is a revocable license which may be withdrawn at any time for any reason. No alcoholic beverages, containers, coolers, controlled substances, weapons, etc. will be allowed on the premises.by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Daily Sun Article 11/11 - 20 years ago
"you lose" most likely started last season. A friend of mine who sat in G told me that he heard people saying that, and we laughed about it often. Probably newbies/freshmen in F-G not really being able to hear clearly what was being said and heard "you goon" as "you lose." 2 minor corrections on quotes in that story. Ding Ding Ding! Very cool and very great product! Now I can pretend that I'm at the Frozen Four again by watching the 3 lame NCAA commercials over and over and over and over and over and over again! Thanks a ton, Age.by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Before anyone asks again... - 20 years ago
Reading Larry and David's posts makes me wonder: is there enough material for a pictoral history of CU Hockey in, say, coffee table book or other format? I know that when historical photos of Ken Dryden were scanned and posted here, I and a lot of others were really fascinated. I would be very interested to see Larry's work and others through the years.by rhovorka - Hockey

Seriously, I'm willing to bet that if there were a product to give you to stop this whining, the people responsible would do so. This isn't an mp3 CD they are making in someone's basement, and I'm pretty sure that the delays in receiving product aren't the fault of or in the control of any of the bandies who could read this forum. Re: western michigan university @ cornell game 1 - 20 years ago
Interesting comments by Coach Schafer in the ECAC weekly preview on USCHO: "I have great feelings for the hockey program," said Schafer, "but I have bad feelings for the University. Western Michigan did a lot for me and a lot of my feelings are for Bill Wilkinson. He was a boss and a mentor. Re: The Harvard Crimson preview - 20 years ago
Well, I for one am happy that Mr. Morosi would come here and post this information, and that the Crimson has a pretty good hockey supplement this season. Pretty decent articles, too. Re: Adam's assessment of freshmen - 20 years ago
They all still have a lot to learn, and Mike Schafer may pull out a lot of hair before they all figure out how to play Cornell Defense I think that's a very important and accurate analysis. From watching the U18 game, I thought there were some very talented freshmen out there, but there were also some glaring defensive mistakes some of us weren't used to seeing. Re: On Penalties... - 20 years ago
Actually, Hornby was incredibly disciplined when it counted. At some point after mid-season, a lot of us were expecting him to shatter the 100 PIM barrier and finish around 130. He finished with 96, according to the eLynah DB. In the playoffs (the entire ECACs and entire NCAAs) he had as many GWGs as he did minor penalties! He only took 2 minors in 7 playoff games. Pretty much agree with all the assessments posted here. Of course it's hard to tell given the scrimmage situation. I was a little nervous at first, because the first few attempts at hard slap/wrist shots had disasterous results. Pegeraro finally got a couple off at the top of the PP, but looked a little awkward in taking them. Wallace had great puck command, and Vesce was Vesce. Won most facby rhovorka - Hockey
Re: [OT] Cornell - Georgetown football - 20 years ago
I got there in time for the 2nd half, and was able to see the Cornell offense convert a nifty flea-flicker to set up their last TD. Any hopes of a miracle comeback pretty much ended shortly after. What surprised me was Georgetown's reaction after the clock ran out. They doused their coach with the water jug, and then ran over to the sidelines grabbing their crotches, whooping it up, flipping tby rhovorka - Hockey
