Re: ECAC Players of the Week, 2/16 - 20 years ago
So looking at the weekly awards (including the honor roll), we have 6 goaltenders honored: Russell (UVM): 2 W, 1 GA Marsters (RPI): 2 W, 2 GA McKee (COR): 2 W, 2 GA Gartner (YAL): 1 W, 3 GA Yacey (DAR): 1 W, 1 T, 5 GA Danis (BRN): 1 T, 6 GA Ummm....anyone see anyone who doesn't really belong with the rest? The song has been around since the 1800s, but it was forcibly linked with Emily West in the 1960s by "myth-making" journalists well after the Mitch Miller version of the song was popular.by rhovorka - Hockey

Pete Godenschwager wrote: Given the ECAC's tendency to spread awards out, it's doubtful that McKee would win both ROTY and goalie of the year. With Brian Ihnacak tied for the league-lead in scoring as a freshman, I'm very doubtful that McKee will get the ROTY, unless they share it. And as I already said, I'm betting Danis gets GOTY. However, if McKee doesn't make the ECAC All-Rookie team, I'llby rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Danis - 20 years ago
Well, looking at overall statistics, it's hard to argue that he shouldn't be the favorite goaltender to gain a Hobey Finalist nod. If you look at the other real possibilities (Doyle (Maine), Kaltiainen (BC), Montoya (Mich), Bruckler (Wisc), and McKee), Danis, for one reason or another, holds an advantage over each of those in things the Hobey committee may look at: GAA, Save %, Saves, and age.by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: Second goal - 20 years ago
Carefoot immediately banked it off the back of Gartner's pad from behind the goal line. I'm not sure if it was intentional (no replay) but I'd say it probably was. From Adam W's USCHO recap: "I knew Knoepfli would be going to the net hard, so I just tried to get out to him and get a break," Carefoot said. Sounds like an attempted pass that Gartner happened to get in the way of.by rhovorka - Hockey
Re: New Idea for college students - 20 years ago
I was watching a college basketball game last night and it me thinking. What if during cornells penatly kills, the college students jumped and chanted ooooooooooooooo, (like when the college basketballs home team is on defence) Well, that's up to the students if they want to do that, but I wouldn't want the faithful to have to resort to ripping off something TV-mugging college basketball fans do.by rhovorka - Hockey

Re: 2/6: Cornell 4 Dartmouth 2. Final. - 20 years ago
Yeah, because of all the lateral movements McKee was making, I thought it might have been a muscle pull, but the last Green player coming across the crease area looks like he might have tripped over the end of McKee's right leg pad. Maybe that last jolt was what caused the muscle to go a little too far. Certainly inadvertent. As was the Glover incident. Pretty much every description I've heby rhovorka - Hockey
