Re: Sports phrases - enough, already - 12 years ago
Kyle Rose jtn27 I've always hated phrases like "do what we do," and "they/we need to just play their/our game," "go out there and execute," and "do our thing." What do those things even mean? I first noticed them in athlete interviews in response to questions like "What do you need to do to go win today?" (because those phrases really answer thatby jtn27 - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: MSG Hockey v. Michigan - 12 years ago
I'd like if Cornell played a game in MSG once a year and established it as a kind of home away from home (why did we wear road jerseys this year?). It would be great if they alternated with BU and a rotating group, but it doesn't matter if BU doesn't want to do it anymore. In fact, rather than negotiating with the other schools, Cornell should go negotiate a deal with MSG to play one game a yearby jtn27 - Hockey

css228 I'm going to do us all a favor and not post pictures of the time the White Sox decided to wear shorts. I looked up a picture with the plan of posting it anyway, but I think you made the right decision.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Consecutive shutout minutes at Lynah? - 12 years ago
Getting back to the topic at hand, does anyone know the (I'm assuming recently broken) record for consecutive shut-out minutes at Lynah?by jtn27 - Hockey

Aaron M. Griffin jtn27 I don't feel like subscribing to RedCast just to watch the Florida tournament... Will the games be broadcast on Redcast? I did not realize that they were broadcasted on Redcast. I don't know. I just assumed they would be. Either way, my question still stands: how do people not in Florida or within range of Ithaca's radio stations watch/listen to the games?by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Estero Roll Call December 2011 - 12 years ago
The Rancor not attending: So Iles is temporarily leaving the team to be a third-string "emergency goalie"? He should just stay with Cornell and help us get some much needed out-of-conference wins.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Estero Roll Call December 2011 - 12 years ago
I will not be attending. Does anyone know if there's a way for me watch or listen to the games? I don't feel like subscribing to RedCast just to watch the Florida tournament, and because I won't be in Ithaca either I won't be able to listen on the radio. Will the games be televised or will there be a free online stream (video or audio)?by jtn27 - Hockey

Towerroad As long as we are talking about things that will never happen how about going old school with the jersey If you want things that will never happen, why not an outdoor game?by jtn27 - Hockey

Aaron M. Griffin css228 ...is anyone else incredibly excited for Colgate-Cornell weekend? My thoughts exactly. It should be an interesting second half of the season. Other than the current ECAC standings, does anyone else see Colgate as a traditional rival of Cornell on par with the likes of BU and Harvard? Colgate makes a lot of what they think is the Colgate-Cornell rivalry, but while I waby jtn27 - Hockey

KeithK jtn27 billhoward Did anybody in Section B see him crack a smile? Know his story? Also, I don't know if he personally smiled, but all the Clarkson fans celebrated when it ended in a tie. How pathetic. Pathetic? A tie on the road against the first place team in the conference is a pretty good outcome. You kind of supported what I was trying to say. He brought his young kids to the game (for some reason they're not in this picture). They couldn't have been older than 8 or 10 years old. I think that's why he didn't get abused too much. However, in between periods he would stand up and taunt the Faithful. Needless to say, that was not tolerated. But I agree that it's nice he didn't get mugged. We're not drunk NFL fans. We're mean but civilizedby jtn27 - Hockey

ajh258 Johnny 5 But, maybe we just need to just do more spray 'n pray? Also, I just can't get over, considering their success to date, how little national attention our team is getting. Or, is it just the EZAC curse? Ya... more spray 'n pray allllways works Spray 'n' pray may not work, but neither does passing it around until a perfect opening presents itself. That perfect openingby jtn27 - Hockey

jeff '84 Can't help but wonder "what if" BU didn't get that bogus 5 on 3 leading to the one regulation time goal in last six games.... I'm convinced that we would have won that game 2-0 if the refs had been competent.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Consecutive shutout minutes at Lynah? - 12 years ago
Well, Isles now has 315:11 consecutive shutout minutes at home, if you include the end of the Mercyhurst game (which I think you do, but if not then it's now at 305:00.) According to this document I found on the Athletics website Scrivens holds the shutout record with 267:11 but 2 of those games were in Albany so they don't count towards the home shutout record. I couldn't find the record for homby jtn27 - Hockey
Re: CU 1 SLU 0 -- Post game - 12 years ago
Well, if the Band calls it "Espana" then that's probably what it is. I really didn't think either version I found online sounded like what was played at the game.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: CU 1 SLU 0 -- Post game - 12 years ago
Cymbal Guy (somebody tell me the name of the song) Song's called Espana (tilda over the n) I could be wrong because I don't have the greatest ear for music, but I think it's actually called "Espana Cani." This is "Espana Cani": It kind of has the same cymbal part (except the cymbals aren't as loud) at about 35 seconds in. This is "Espana": But again, Iby jtn27 - Hockey
