Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell 4 St. Lawrence 3 (ot) - 12 years ago
The only way I can see us getting at large bid is if we win both games next weekend (ties won't cut it) and then make it to Atlantic City. Even if we do that, we still might need to win the ECAC Tournament.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Clarkson 1 - 12 years ago
From the Cornell Big Red Men's Hockey Facebook page: Cornell Big Red Men's Hockey Final Score Cornell 1 - Clarkson 1 - A single season record for ties with 7 for Cornell! We will have to wait until tomorrow nights game with a win or a tie against St. Lawrence to clinch a first round playoff bye. Whoever it is in the athletic department that runs this thing is way too excited about a tie. Alsby jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Clarkson (pregame) - 12 years ago
Trotsky pfibigerThis team really misses Esposito, I hope he's ok for SLU.Schafer said in the pre-game he is out until the playoffs. What happened? He played last weekend. Did he aggravate his injury by playing?by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: MSG Hockey v. Michigan - 12 years ago
jtwcornell91 KeithK I for one strongly endorse thread drift. It's like having a bunch of my friends sitting around bullshitting, tossing out jokes and insults as needed. If you just want information go to a news site. If the thread only had beer and popcorn, it would be perfect. You could just eat and drink while you read...by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: MSG Hockey v. Michigan - 12 years ago
RichH jtn27Do you have a list ranking of all the airports in the country (if so, please share it)? I just thought all airports were basically the same.. Oh dear. Allow me to introduce "the internet" to you. This type of obessive-compulsive topic is exactly why it exists. I don't actually want/need a list of airports. I just want to see if Ben actually compiled one himself.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: MSG Hockey v. Michigan - 12 years ago
Ben When I saw 19 unread comments in this thread, I assumed that Michigan or CU had announced the event and y'all were talking about it. Instead, you were comparing the distance from The Centre of the Universe to two mediocre airports. Thanks, guys. JFK and LaGuardia are "mediocre airports"? I'm not going to dispute that claim. As far as I know, it could be true. Instead I'm going askby jtn27 - Hockey
Re: MSG Hockey v. Michigan - 12 years ago
Aaron M. Griffin Update pertaining to this thread. Matt Slovin, who is the student sports editor for The Michigan Daily who is also the beat reporter for Michigan hockey, tweeted two hours ago: @MattSlovin Can confirm: Michigan Hockey to play Cornell next season, per Berenson. Game will be played in New York. I asked Matt Slovin whether "New York" means MSG (as we all suspected) oby jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 Yale 2 - 12 years ago
I know we won and I don't want to be a downer, but I'm a little worried about the fact that last night was the 8th time in 9 games that we scored 0 third period goals.by jtn27 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 5 Brown 2 - 12 years ago
Does anybody know if Axell and de Swardt could be suspended by the ECAC for the game misconducts they got with 28 seconds left in the game?by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5 Brown 2 - 12 years ago
marty css228 Big win tonight.. also Brown's fans demonstrated tonight why you don't chant scoreboard when you're only up by two, let alone only 4 minutes into the 2nd period. For a bad hockey team, their fans are really uppity. I'm impressed that any of their fans made the trip. Either true fans or folks who were looking for a reason to get out of Providence. Only the band was there, and theyby jtn27 - Hockey

Re: Kevin Boothe - 12 years ago
2 snert1288 I will just say the Kevin is damn lucky the Giants won because he would make a very nice scapegoat...GO GIANTS!! On the NFL Network's Sound FX last night they made it quite clear that the holding call was bogus. First, the head ref questioned the ref who threw the flag, because he didn't agree. Then after they made the call and pushed the ball back, the refs continued to questionby jtn27 - Other Sports
Re: 2/3/12_Cornell_RPI_2-2 tie - 12 years ago
With tonights's tie against Union, we haven't scored a 3rd period goal since January 13 at Quinnipiac (we did get an OT goal against Dartmouth on the 20th). That's 7 games without a 3rd period goal.by jtn27 - Hockey

Aaron M. Griffin jtn27 css228 So much material voluntarily given to us for the next time we play Hahvahd, its like SUCKS wants to be heckled. Did you actually waste almost fourty minutes watching videos about Hahvahd? They're worth, at best, 5 minutes of my time. I doubt he watched "fourty" minutes. Well, that's embarassing. Now I feel like a Harvard student.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Kevin Boothe - 12 years ago
Here's a list of all the Cornell players to ever play in the NFL (sorry if something like this was already posted elsewhere). As was already mentioned, Kevin Boothe and Derrick Harmon were the only two to make it to the Super Bowl.by jtn27 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell @ Colgate - 12 years ago
jtwcornell91 jtn27 I suppose we still have an outside chance at an at large bid if we win the Cleary CupBedpan FYP Seriously, what has it come to, that Cornell fans are talking about that spittoon like it's a real trophy? My apologies. Allow me to rephrase what I said earlier. I suppose we still have an outside chance at an at large bid if we're the number 1 seed in the ECAC tourney.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Colgate - 12 years ago
We're now tied for 18th in the pairwise rankings. It seems pretty likely that we're going to need to win the ECAC tournament to make the NCAA tourney. I suppose we still have an outside chance at an at large bid if we win the Cleary Cup but to do that I think we're going to need to get at least 3 points against Union, maybe even 4. With the way we've been playing lately and the fact that we're plby jtn27 - Hockey

dag14 Harvard game also overlapped with rush events this year. Hockey games during rush week should be rush events. Frats and sororities should make attending the game mandatory to gain entrance to the frat/sorority.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Colgate starting time - 12 years ago
upprdeck but for kids paying $50k to go to school does $250 really make a dent? You have to remember, a lot of students are here on financial aid. Not everyone pays $50K. For some students $250 is a substantial amount of money on top of what they are already paying.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Colgate starting time - 12 years ago
Since Colgate considers Cornell its major rival while Cornell only considers Colgate a minor diversion until the next Harvard game, we should break out this chant that UNC uses against North Carolina State.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 Harvard 2 (ot) - 12 years ago
Well that was a somewhat disappointing ending. Play in the third period wasn't the greatest tonight. The power play near the end of the game was particularly lackluster. It seemed like Harvard controlled the puck just as much as we did during our power play.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Kevin Boothe - 12 years ago
This video is somewhat interesting. It's four Giants beat writers/media people, two of whom are Cornell alums, discussing how important Boothe has been to the team this year. It's a twenty minute video, but the part about Boothe is only the first 3 or 4 minutes.by jtn27 - Other Sports
Re: Q Postgame - 12 years ago
marty Willy '06 TheMatrix dbilmes Two questions for the eLynah faithful: 1) Does anyone know the last time we swept the two New Haven-area teams on the road? Last January: Fri, Jan 7, 2011 @ Princeton University 1-2 (W) Sat, Jan 8, 2011 @ Quinnipiac University 2-3 (W) OT Princeton is in New Jersey. Princeton is in New Jersey. Re: Q Postgame - 12 years ago
dbilmes By New Haven-area teams, I met Yale and Q in same season. I know we don't play them on the same weekend. Why don't we play them the same weekend? It would make much more sense for them to be travel partners (which would then mean Princeton is with Brown). I assume it has something to do with the fact that QU is the most recent addition to the conference. Who did Princeton travel with beby jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Lacrosse 2012 - 12 years ago
The Long Island Lizzards took Rob Pannell first overall in the MLL draft today. The Rochester Rattlers took Roy Lang 11th overall. Other Ivy Leaguers taken are Princeton's Chad Wiedmaier (7th, Hamilton Nationals), Princeton's Fiorto (10th, Chesapeak Bayhawks), and Harvard's Kevin Vaugh (14th, Denver Outlaws). Great news fo Pannell and Lang. I don't really know anything about the MLL though (Iby jtn27 - Other Sports
