Re: Quarterfinal Choices-The Real Ones - 12 years ago
RPI @ Union Dartmouth @ Cornell Yale @ Harvard Quinnipiac @ Colgate I don't want RPI to win because that would mean we would face them in the semi-final, something we obviously don't want. Additionally, I'd like to see Colgate get knocked out, plus we match-up well with Quinnipiac (another plus is a QU sweep may cost Colgate its TUC status). As for Yale and Harvard, I don't really care allby jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Sunday night ECAC First Round - 12 years ago
css228 jtn27 I'd be nice if RPI, Yale, and Quinnipiac all win. That would set us up against Dartmouth, which is a match-up I like. Also, it would eliminate Clarkson, a team that has given us trouble this year, and pit Union and RPI against each other, ensuring that 1 of the 2 other teams we had had the most trouble with will not make it to Atlantic City. How does that ensure that Colgate doesn'tby jtn27 - Hockey

Tom Lento * I'm assuming they don't re-seed for the women's Frozen Four, but the first two points hold either way. They do not reseed. In fact, they have brackets on their website. I already filled one out. I have Wisconsin, St. Lawrence, Minnesota, and Cornell winning in the first round, and then Cornell beating Wisconsin in the championship game.by jtn27 - Hockey

ajh258 jtn27 Maybe we'll get lucky and both Brown and Princeton will win tonight so we can face Princeton. I know it's unlikely but that's what I'm rooting for so that we don't have to face RPI again. I'd also like RPI to knock off Clarkson. I don't want to see Clarkson in a later round; they gave us trouble both times we faced them.I'd rather face Clarkson than RPI at this point. At least we didby jtn27 - Hockey

The NCAA selection show is today at 6. For anyone interested in watching, you can watch for free on the NCAA's website. If for whatever reason you feel the need to torture yourself you can also watch the selection shows for DIII men's hockey, DII women's basketball, and DII men's basketball today. I'm personally looking forward to the bowling selection show later this month.by jtn27 - Hockey

Not surprisingly, the hockey community has jumped on board, too. I was sitting behind the Harvard Crimson reporter at the game last night. Before the game even started, he had written part of his story about Harvard winning. I know it worked out for him, but I found the arrogance to be appalling. (Although, to be fair, when I called him out on it he told me he had written 3 versions, including one for a Cornell win. I guess the 3rd version was a Harvard win plby jtn27 - Other Sports
Re: Quarterfinal Choices - 12 years ago
Rita Trotsky RPI does win 5-1. So if these results held for the series, we would get: 1-Union vs 12-Brown 2-Cornell vs 10-RPI 3-Harvard vs 9-Dartmouth 4-Colgate vs 6-Yale Maybe not getting the #1 seed isn't so bad. At least we will avoid Brown in the QF's! I'd rather face Brown than RPI.by jtn27 - Hockey

billhoward You were there? What was attendance like? There was 30-40 SLU fans and maybe 20 Harvard fans. Our band showed up for overtime and then played when the "Saints Come Marching In" after the game just to annoy Harvard. I would have preferred that Harvard won though so that we could be the ones to eliminate them.by jtn27 - Hockey

French Rage css228 jtn27 css228 jtn27 css228 I really think the media wants Harvard to get in because it makes for a sexy story. Remember that Harvard was the favorite heading into the game in Ithaca despite being a clearly inferior team (evidenced by their 32 point loss). Anyone whod watched a basketball game involving both teams could have told you that Cornell team was the FAR superior team.by jtn27 - Other Sports

Thomas Larson Apparently ECAC Women's Tournament games will be on redcast like every other game, at least according to the Cornell release. So that will be fun to watch online if you can't go in person. I don't get RedCast (since I'm still a student there's no need), but from what I've heard from all of you RedCast hardly sounds "fun."by jtn27 - Hockey

css228 Jeff Hopkins '82 nyc94 ugarte Ben French Rage What's the tiebreaker if they both finish 12-2? A single game playoff? They share the Ivy title and play one game (probably at Levein or Lee) for the NCAA autobid. At least one analyst has said that he thinks if that happens, and Penn wins, the Ivies will be a two-bid conference. He also thought that if Harvard drops one to Cornell or Columbiaby jtn27 - Other Sports

On occasion, I can smell it at Lynah when the players come out of the locker room at the start of the period (usually before the third period). Last year, during a game when the smell was particularly bad, someone sitting in Section A on the aisle right next to the visitor's locker room yelled "Hey sieve, you smell!" which I found amusing. ajh258 Aaron M. Griffin Here's the breakdown by seed. % of times that a given seed has won the Whitelaw Cup: 45% second seed 27% first seed 9.1% third seed 9.1% fourth seed 9.1% team outside of the top four seeds Very convincing evidence that we might win in Atlantic City.
