Re: 2010 ECAC Championship Game vs. Union - 11 years ago
marty Patrick Kennedy and Celebration Anyone else notice that Greg Miller, who would go on to lead the Red in points and +/- the next three seasons, is one of the players in the celebration who didn't dress for the game? That is both a testament to how far he has come and to how incredibly talented the 09-10 team was. Easily one of the best Cornell teams in recent memory.by BearLover - Hockey
Re: Wallowing - 11 years ago
RichH Trotsky css228Yes, but I think we can all agree that for a team this talented, a bottom four finish was flat out unacceptable. Not much changes if they finish 8th as opposed to 9th, but still I don't really think its entitlement if you're disappointed when your team has a losing season, with a 500ish record at home. If you're okay with that, you're actively supporting mediocrity. Varianceby BearLover - Hockey

Re: Cornell at Yale 2013 - 11 years ago
Ben I believe I just heard Topher Scott call the team "a national title contender" on WHCU. What title does he expect them to contend for? Most Spectacular Underachievement? Should be a great rematch between Cornell and Michigan in the finals.by BearLover - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Yale 2013 - 11 years ago
I haven't seen Cornell so dominated in the first seven minutes since they played Yale 2 years ago...by BearLover - Hockey
Re: Brown blog - 11 years ago
TimV Any place there's a list of players' schools? How many go to our aggie school Nearly all of them. You can check the Cornell roster.by BearLover - Hockey
Re: Pre-weekend - 11 years ago
At the very least, the team should have the option of taking the penalty shot or just taking a regular power play. There are times when it's preferable to have the latter (up by a goal with under two minutes).by BearLover - Hockey
Re: 2013 ECAC Playoff Permutations - 11 years ago
Almost everyone has so much to play for...except, you know...that fact that everyone makes the tournament. It would definitely be a lot more exciting if not everyone made it.by BearLover - Hockey
Re: ECAC Playoff Possibilities and Race in a Nutshell Thread - 11 years ago
So basically Cornell needs to beat Brown, and probably beat Yale too, and even then a home playoff series isn't guaranteed. The boys have been playing better lately, though...by BearLover - Hockey
Re: U @ Cornell - Senior Night 2013 - 11 years ago
Some bounces finally went Cornell's way this weekend. Solid effort and execution, but tonight easily could have gone the other way. Still too many stupid penalties. But I'm truly happy for and proud of the seniors.by BearLover - Hockey
Re: ECAC Playoff Possibilities and Race in a Nutshell Thread - 11 years ago
I have no doubt in my mind Cornell can beat every team in the conference, except perhaps Q. They can also lose to each of these teams. I predict they win until they have to play Q/Yale.by BearLover - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Clark - 11 years ago
carpy85 BearLover Honestly, they just suck. Almost no one on the entire team can contribute on both ends of the ice. Throw in a subpar year from Iles and idiotic penalties and it's not surprising they're at the bottom of the ECAC. I wouldn't be surprised if Ferlin and Lowry bolt after this season. Everyone this year is having a bad year except for Bardreau until he got hurt with a neck fracturby BearLover - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Aints - 11 years ago
Jim Hyla When I looked at the penalty minutes, I was surprised we weren't worse off. I don't know how many 5 & 10's we have had, but subtract those (I only wish) and we would be very pedestrian in penalty minutes. I didn't see Lowry's penalty and have heard various thoughts about it. Was it on the video, if anyone was watching, and how was it described on the air? Anyone who says coach canby BearLover - Hockey
Re: Big Line-up Changes for Brown Game - 11 years ago
Towerroad Kyle Rose 6. Coaching - The coaching staff isn't reaching the players or effectively instilling in them the spirit of Cornell hockey. I'm not saying this is a problem, only that not including it in a list of potential problems is missing (or deliberately excluding) one of the more obvious inputs to a successful team. A lot of folks here are dodging the issue of accountability.Aby BearLover - Hockey

Re: CU vs Yale - 11 years ago
The second line can't get back on defense. The 3rd and 4th lines can't do anything. Iles has been getting beaten way too often. I have never seen so many stupid penalties in my life. And the freshman class has really not contributed. These are classic problems that have not been in any way corrected as the season has progressed. The players are trying; at this point it has to be bad coachinby BearLover - Hockey

Re: CU vs. Denver - 11 years ago
I have mostly just seen the home Lynah games. It is hard to notice everything, but I have seen MacDonald make a number of very good defensive plays. He also seems to jump up too far on the play less than D'agostino and Ryan. I am unsure why his +/- is so low. D'agostino has indeed been careless with the puck, but I think he is too talented to bench. Birch has been very solid and dependable dby BearLover - Hockey
Re: Bardreau to U.S. National Junior Team - 11 years ago
scoop85 Jim Hyla I just saw this article from Rochester D & C on Cole Bardreau and Team USA. Picked up via ECAC site. It would be great to see him make the final cut; Bardreau's really coming into his own, and he's a "glue" kind of player essential to any winning team. I enjoy watching that tournament, and it would be icing on the cake to have one of our own representing the USA.by BearLover - Hockey
