Re: State of Cornell Athletics - 2 years ago
Weder I’m curious whether Cornell’s test-optional policy (in place through the Fall 2024 admissions cycle) will significantly change the recruited athlete profile. For the Cornell Class of 2025, 60% of enrolling students submitted an SAT or ACT score. I just scanned the Cornell Class of 2025 admission and enrollment statistics . Really very impressive! But, Housing and Dinning? “Anyby George64 - Other Sports

Dalton Bancroft said, “There were a few schools that I was talking to, however it was an easy decision. My parents and I thought it was the best fit for my play and education. The history of Big Red is astonishing; the alumni, the names that have come through, it is top tier. We are overwhelmed about the news, and my teammates have been very supportive.” Dalton’s father Steve Bancroft, “Weby George64 - Hockey

Al DeFlorio Did Samuel Beckett dream this nonsense up? Just play a five skaters on a side, sudden death overtime for ten minutes, and you either get a deserving winner or a deserved tie. No gimmicks. Just real hockey. Worked fine for a lot of years. And everybody understood it. Agreed!by George64 - Hockey

billhoward So many great sports quotes, aphorisms and all-round dumb-seemingly-sane remarks. One of my favorites is, "You cant't coach height." Too bad Yogi Berra came along after Twitter. “I never said most of the things I said.”by George64 - Other Sports

Ken711 George64 The 5th down game is part of Cornell football lore. For those unfamiliar, here's the excerpt from Bob Kane's book Good Sports - A History of Cornell Athletics. BTW, Bob Kane was AD when Lynah Rink was built. Bob Kane was one of Cornell's greatest ADs. Yes, he hired Ned Harkness!by George64 - Other Sports

George64 Ken711 Shades of the famous 5th down game between Cornell and Dartmouth. The outcome of the game will stand as a win for Princeton. The league office will address the error with the officials. Cornell, however, acknowledged the officiating error and conceded the game. It was really a BFD, as Cornell was undefeated and ranked number one in the country at the time (hard to believe nby George64 - Other Sports

Ken711 Shades of the famous 5th down game between Cornell and Dartmouth. Ivy League Statement: In the third overtime, Harvard threw a pass for a successful two-point conversion. After the play, the replay booth stopped the game for an official review. I watched a replay on ESPN+ of the first half of the match against Harvard this morning. The announcers noted that soccer and lax All-American, Bruce Arena ‘73, was present. He’s now GM or something for the New England Rebels, Revolution or whatever, and probably scouting our team. It’s a good sign.by George64 - Other Sports

Women's Ice Hockey Dear George, I write this letter from Calgary, Alberta.
