Re: ECAC Finally Signs Playoff TV Deal - 20 years ago
CN-8 is completely different than the Comcast SportsNet (Philly version and D.C. version). CN-8 is a totally different channel that is on all Comcast cable systems. It's not the D.C. all sports one that's on the dish (Philly's isn't on the dish).by adamw - Hockey
Re: Question for Adam W ... - 20 years ago
Apparently there is a bug in Safari 1.2 ... Our people have submitted it to their developers ... their developers have acknowledged that it's a bug and that it's already been fixed for upcoming releases.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Question for Adam W ... - 20 years ago
Perhaps Safari doesn't support "nowrap" ... Though I wonder if the XHTML-proper nowrap="nowrap" would work. Can you send a screen shot? Or maybe it's something else. Don't know. USCHO tried to design things to be 100% CSS/XHTML compliant ... although there's the occasional legacy stuff in there simply because it was easier than spending 2 weeks trying to ram things throughby adamw - Hockey

Thunderstix are against NCAA rules, actually. No artificial noisemakers are allowed to be used during play.by adamw - Hockey

FYI ... Dwyer didn't cough the puck up the middle. ... He coughed it up to Carefoot, who put it in the middle. I think. I could be wrong. ... Then ... Carefoot says it wasn't intentional to bank it off the pads. Was trying to get it to Knoepfli in front. Finally ... Downs was our No. 2 star. Hynes No. 3. Carefoot No. 1.by adamw - Hockey

Re: Game Thread: Princeton 0 at Cornell 2 (End of 1st) - 20 years ago
Folks ... Ed filled in for me once before ... He is formerly Princeton's guy ... Princeton doesn't broadcast their games anymore, so that's why you won't find a feed from them. He also used to broadcast Princeton men's basketball - thus his reference to that. ... I'll have to make sure to remind him again about the talking between breaks.by adamw - Hockey

The old abbreviations for Germany as used by the Olympic Committee were "GDR" and "FRG" ... German Democratic Republic ... and Federal Republic of Germany. The Olympics often use their own abbreviations. Also ... the team did, indeed, initially hate each other. No movie cliche there.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Penalties in Vermont game - 20 years ago
Things like PP Opps. on College Hockey Stats are created by an algorithm based upon the penalties entered, not by hand. I've never seen anyone or anything that's 100 percent perfect. If you think you've seen an error on their site, you should tell them, so they can correct it. They would probably welcome that.by adamw - Hockey
Re: ECAC Media Conference - 20 years ago
The link to the story about that conference call is right below where the text was -- where it says "What's Next for the ECAC?" -- and has been there since Thursday. Article here: Not removing that language about 4 p.m. was an oversight.by adamw - Hockey

A D-III school is not possible. There is a moratorium (probably permanent) on schools moving up.by adamw - Hockey

Correction: I never said that about Dom Moore. Thank you. Though I agree he was/is a tremendous and classy hockey player. Post Edited (12-16-03 02:43)by adamw - Hockey

If it was the color guy talking about a 1-2-2 forecheck - then I'm sure he knew what he was talking about - because he is former Harvard goalie Chuckie Hughes (class of '92 I believe).by adamw - Hockey

Of course you could just drop a line to the editorial staff as a head's up instead of mocking it, though I realize that's not nearly as entertaining. ... I'm happy to say I was not responsible for either gaffe, though if I don't make at least a couple mistakes a week, it's an upset. Post Edited (12-08-03 23:15)by adamw - Hockey

JP Morosi is one of the best. Does a lot of good work for USCHO. Only problem - poor Dylan Reese still hasn't seen Lynah, because he didn't make the trip.by adamw - Hockey

Re: Story on Vesce - 20 years ago
Keith K. is correct on all accounts ... except that now, if you opt-in as an 18-year old prior to having enrolled in college, you no longer forfeit your NCAA eligibility. Many, many undrafted free agents either leave college for big money, or get big money after they gradute. Many stars in college were late bloomers, which is why many of them didn't go to junior to begin with. i.e. last year'sby adamw - Hockey
Re: Since Adam W. is lurking ... - 20 years ago
The INCH Newstand is a great idea. It's not that USCHO didn't think of it ... it's just that, I don't know how in the world they find the time to put that together every day ... given what I know about the manpower/monetary resources available to both INCH and USCHO.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Since Adam W. is lurking ... - 20 years ago
Collegehockeystats has all the stats, of course ... though USCHO collaborates with them to make sure the stuff it has is the same as chStats. And I like to think that on the stuff USCHO has - like the basics - that it's nicer to look at ... but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm personally not big on penalties in boxes, and never have been -- not that that's a reason why USCHO doesn't cuby adamw - Hockey
Re: Since Adam W. is lurking ... - 20 years ago
1) This answer could sound like sour grapes, so I'll just say what I'm going to say, and you decide The ESPN thing has long been fairly meaningless. I don't think either side paid attention to the fact that USCHO was an "affiliate" for at least 4 years. ESPN certainly hasn't used anything of USCHO's in at least that long, and people there now probably didn't even remember we were anby adamw - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Princeton 7-0 FINAL - 20 years ago
Sorry folks. I know none of us like missing goals, believe me. ... We need to get in 2 30-second spots per period -- which we cut down from 3 last year. When there's 7 goals, of course the odds increase of missing one. ... With the 18-second rule (was 15 last year), you try to time these things as best you can - wait for neutral-zone draws, etc... The first goal was off a draw in the Cornellby adamw - Hockey

Re: Where all old hockey books go to die... - 20 years ago
Great link. Great stuff. I was particularly amused by the 1954 NCAA hockey guide selling for $45. I was in a used book store in Cape Cod, and came across 3 similar items a couple years ago ...... the propietor sold them to me -- all 3 -- for $3. These guides are somewhat interesting - nothing too exciting though. Probably for the college hockey fan worth more than $1 - but certainly not $45.by adamw - Hockey
