Re: Michigan State games help or hurt Cornell? - 19 years ago
Only Northern Michigan and Alaska-Fairbanks have Olympic-size ice in the CCHA ... everyone else is 200x85by adamw - Hockey
Re: where's adam? - 19 years ago
Hi folks. ... Thanks for asking. CSTV is fun but I miss Cornell a ton. The plan is for me to do some color commentary this year. Tony has done games the last two years and does a good job. From what I hear, Jason is also doing fine on PBP. I hope to make it up for next Sat. against Brown. If I can find a babysitter - or someone to occupy my kids for 2 hours at Lynah. Take care.by adamw - Hockey
Re: New Book on CU Hockey - 19 years ago
Hi folks ... If you feel like helping USCHO in the process of ordering this book, please use this link as an entry-way to Amazon: To answer one question - most pictures have lengthy captions ... and each chapter has a two-page introduction. So there's some text. It's actually about 20,000 words worth, I believe. It's not a full narrative. That is something I'd love to do in the future.by adamw - Hockey

How much traffic can you handle? There are some good places to post this, depending on how ready you are to get hammered (with traffic, that is)by adamw - Hockey
Re: What's with the poor out of conference schedule? - 19 years ago
As has been noted, these teams play tough games early in the season, and are not afraid to play tough games. The issue is more what was also noted above -- the Ivies can't play in October, when most of these games take place. By November, the WCHA teams especially are well into their league schedule. I don't think the explanation needs to go much beyond that.by adamw - Hockey
Re: McKee wasn't eligible for draft? - 19 years ago
I don't think you are correct. And the notion that a player could be both a free agent and draft eligible at the same time, doesn't pass the common sense test. Do you have documentation somewhere about this? I've looked in the CBA, and there is nothing in the section about the Entry Draft that would support what you say. In the section about Free Agency, it says this: (i) Any Playeby adamw - Hockey
Re: McKee wasn't eligible for draft? - 19 years ago
Unless it's different for 20-year olds, draft-eligible players cannot just declare themselves to be free agents. A 19-year old, for example, couldn't just leave school in April and sign with any pro team.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Rumors on ECAC expansion - 19 years ago
No one has ever cited any evidence that Yale doesn't want QU in the ECAC. Yet there is evidence declaring the opposite -- i.e. Wayne Dean's comments in support of QU.by adamw - Hockey
Re: What's with the poor out of conference schedule? - 19 years ago
It is true that BC and Maine are strong teams. The rest of the statement is not true.by adamw - Hockey
Re: NHL Draft -- The Selections - 19 years ago
FYI, I have comments from Montreal regarding Jon Gleed that will be in a forthcoming article. Right now, I need to sleep. Sawada seemed like a super kid.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Schafer - 19 years ago
Traditionally, hockey's demographic has been the most affluent of any of the team sports.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Tampa Bay wins the cup - 19 years ago
There are vastly more Europeans in the NHL right now than there were before the recent wave of NHL expansion, i.e. 12 years. Way more than enough to fill 9 teams.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Photo ID help - 19 years ago
Thanks. The link is actually fine. It's the site it's on that's the problem - it's down at the moment. I'm going to put the photo somewhere else.by adamw - Hockey
Photo ID help - 19 years ago
Can anyone help to identify the old "cowbell guy" in this photo. My impression is, it is from the '80s some time. But perhaps not. Thank you for any help.by adamw - Hockey

Re: ECAC Mulling Options on uscho - 20 years ago
Thank you. I didn't realize some people complain when there's only a link. I realize the intentions are usually pure, but it's technically a copyright violation to post the full text. Anyway - thanks again.by adamw - Hockey
Re: ECAC Mulling Options on uscho - 20 years ago
Thanks all. But could you just post the link. In addition to helping USCHO by doing so, it appears you posted the article in preformatted text, which is blowing out the page.by adamw - Hockey

126 of 270 North Americans listed are in college or college-bound, per: Not all have decided to opt in.by adamw - Hockey
Re: ECAC Players / NHL Coaches - 20 years ago
The pyramid is steep for coaches and managers from any college conference, or anywhere at all, for that matter. The ECAC certainly is not sad. ECAC folks are arguably more successful than anyone else. Here is a list from 4 years ago - which was not comprehensive then (Bill Torrey and Mike Keenan, SLU, are not listed, for example) - and is slightly outdated now - but may give a decent idea:by adamw - Hockey
Re: ECAC Will Add One or More Members - 20 years ago
Now let's point out how the top half of that article looks eerily similar to the one that ran on USCHO.com two days earlier.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Cornell omitted from best games of season in USCHO article - 20 years ago
The article did not include tournament games of all types. Thus, the Everblades wasn't considered. Having discussed both articles with the author, I'm fairly certain the Everblades final will be included in the next article.by adamw - Hockey
Re: (OT) Pat Tillman - 20 years ago
Note: - The draft is collectively bargained for and is designed to help the sport - Baseball players are still bound to the organizations that draft them for up to 10 years.by adamw - Hockey
Re: ECAC Headline on USCHO - 20 years ago
What needs to be understood is, the other conferences all have existing deals. The pool of games for CSTV is therefore limited. The ECAC has no such restriction. That doesn't mean the other conferences won't be on ... it just means the ECAC has a good chance to have a fair number of games on CSTV -- an option it doesn't have with a lot of other places. Unfortunately, that no-brainer symbiotiby adamw - Hockey

Re: Cornell lax player collapses - 20 years ago
Not sure if you're referring to this: 12-year old hockey player in Mass. This whole thing is truly awful.by adamw - Hockey

I have been told that the blue screen is there while testing audio - and all should up and going shortly.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Union No-Goal - 20 years ago
As someone without Tivo and awaiting to buy the Panasonic ... the DMR-E80H looks great, but does not, for some reason, include Firewire input (to go digital to digital from a mini-DV camcorder). ... The next step up, the 100 something or other, has a 120GB hard drive and includes Firewire input. Price on Amazon, $850 (retails for $1119) ... The E80H is on Amazon for $520.by adamw - Hockey
Re: Pairwise Ranking - 20 years ago
The bonus is not a fudge factor. That much is sure. Though, their secrecy opens them up to this sort of speculation - so, in that case, they deserve it. But, in regards to the comment re: St. Cloud/Colorado College ... neither team qualifies for any bonus points this year (just go to USCHO's bonus pages and put in any number, and you'll see). ... So the Committee could do no amount of fudgingby adamw - Hockey
Re: No Cornell on TV - 20 years ago
CSTV seems to have left it there because it has decided to pick up the championship game feed from CN8. That is not the way it was originally planned.by adamw - Hockey
Re: No Cornell on TV - 20 years ago
In March, CSTV cannot carry CCHA, WCHA, etc.. because those places have existing contracts with local Fox networks. The ECAC has the door wide open to them for CSTV, at least in regards to hockey.by adamw - Hockey
