Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Atlantic City Roll Call - 12 years ago
Driving down Friday... three adults and two kids. Last year, we only came for the Championship game, so maybe someone can answer one or both of these questions... Are they allowing exit/re-entry between games? What is the child admission policy? I assume I don't have to buy a ticket for my 1-year-old (lousy Carrier Dome), but what about my three-year-old? Both can sit on laps. And Iby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

BearLover Unbelievable. What time should we arrive for the men's game? Men's game start time now 7:35.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: Hockey Stinks (in an olfactory sense) - 12 years ago
So wait, keeping my goalie equipment in the car because I have games on back-to-back nights isn't the way to combat stench? My favorite hockey-related T-shirt: "My Hands Stink" above a Bauer logo.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Not a goal? - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla I agree with everything. I thought the pointing also meant he thought it hit the netting. However, if that were true, there would not have been any review. If he saw it do that, the play was over, regardless of where the puck went afterwards. Suffice it to say the refs had no clue what happened on that play. The only thing that hasn't been mentioned was what about the up ice official. Diby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals vs UVA - 13 years ago
phillysportsfan Why would they change uniforms now in the 2nd round of the tournament? arent most athletes/coaches superstitious? Why would a team switch from man-to-man to zone defense in the 2nd quarter of a tournament game? That just seems... oh, never mind.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals - 13 years ago
phillysportsfanIts a shame Cornell doesnt have a bus or anything going but I guess most students are gone by then Most students are back on Long Island by thenby Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA Lax scores - 13 years ago
Jordan 04 Didn't the Delaware coach say in the TO that if his team won it clean he would call timeout right away? Even though it would delay the Cornell coverage, I was yelling TIMEOUT at the TV as soon as the refs signaled possession. You don't have to be in the box to call TO, do you?by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

billhoward (snip) ...the deciding factor for the home field for the playoffs is the head to head record? If so, we've clinched home-field for the tournament. Can someone confirm? I haven't read through the forums in a while, so forgive me if this has been covered.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: College hockey: blip on the sporting radar - 13 years ago
billhoward It does mean if you had a hankering to go see one of the regional finals, you could walk up to the ticket booth on game-day and score decent tickets. FWIW, Bridgeport was sold out before the field was announced. Generally, though, you're right.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: Atlantic City hotels - 13 years ago
Kyle RoseHopefully the ECAC has an escape clause in their contract that allows them to back out of subsequent years if attendance is too low. The fact that tickets for next year's tournament are up for sale on ticketmaster makes that highly unlikely. Attendance for tonight will be up by at least two. See you all down there.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: Goalie Choice for Atlantic City - 13 years ago
marty jeff '84 Trotsky jeff '84Speaking of shutouts -- seems like it's been a long time since CU hasn't thrown one shutout (not including USA development team) in a season. Cornell had no shutouts in the three seasons immediately prior to Schafer becoming coach. Wow,thanks Trotsky Schafer Elliott. FYP FYPby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Viewing in NYC - 13 years ago
Cactus12 Yeah, I also get CBS college sports on twcny with the standard cable package... it's wedged in between a whole bunch of channels I don't receive, so I too was surprised that it worked. Ditto for Cablevision of Westchester, although I might pick up the Sports Pak for the weekend to watch the other conference tournaments.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: 2011 ECAC Post-season - 13 years ago
billhoward I love your scenario. I had the same optimism last spring when Army upset Syracuse in lax in the first round and that virtually guaranteed our place in the title game on account of the path there led through Army and Notre Dame, two beatable teams. ...mutter mutter mutter... Bemidji State...by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Seeded 7th -- Facing Loyola - 14 years ago
phillysportsfan But isnt the other game at Stony Brook the winners of (3) Maryland Hofstra and Notre Dame (6) Princeton Princeton and Stony Brook are both bracketed to play the second round at home. Given the fact that lacrosse needs to make its own attendance, I would guess the rules are more like hockey (hosting school MUST play at home) than basketball (hosting school CANNOT play at homeby Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: lacrosse tie breakers - 14 years ago
Al (or anyone who knows), are the tiebreakers used for tournament seeding similar to the ones used in years past? In other words, if this was 2009, who would receive the Ivy autobid?by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: Alumni in the Playoffs - 2010 - 14 years ago
Rita Fortunately, Versus has been doing a good job in cutting into the other games still in progress after their main game(s) of the night end. The Versus schedule is predetermined. Even what they call "bonus coverage" is already listed on NHL.com as being covered by Versus, either from the beginning or joined in progress. I haven't seen any JIP's of games not already on the schedulby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: Thank you Donahue and coaching search thread - 14 years ago
ugarte Zach Spiker at Army or perhaps Malia Obama. Thanks to Coach Donahue for doing what nobody had any reason to believe could be done. This was a great three year peak. A Sweet 16, multiple regular season wins over big-conference schools and Cornell being part of the conversation as something other than "... can clinch the conference title against Cornell with a win against Cornell tomby Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
