Re: Mercury Bar , NYC - CONFIRMED - 16 years ago
BeeeejGreenberg '97I went to the Mercury Bar two years ago for first round NCAA games. They DID have the 5:00 game on (I know this because my work conference ends at 4:30, and I didn't spend two hours watching local news). That said, I just called them, and a perky-sounding waitress said that they are indeed getting the game. Should have read this sooner. That's walking distance from my job. New plan.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: Watching CU - Stanford in NYC - 16 years ago
BB+R might be my location of choice... I'm coming from 30th and 1st, probably driving up first and looking for street parking. Should be there by tip as well.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA Basketball On-Line Video - 16 years ago
Based on what I read, there won't be local blackouts this year. I also have an email in to CBS asking if Cornell is considered local enough to New York City to warrant WCBS showing the game, instead of local news. The 5:00 start time is usually the "west coast only" slot. I expect to hear back from them in time for Cornell's next tournament appearance.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: Game time set for Thursday: 2 PT / 5 ET - 16 years ago
The good news is that they don't have any games against them. The bad news is that the 5:00 game is the only one that isn't televised on the east coast. CBS usually breaks for the local news until the 7:00 games. So, who's organizing Ship of Fools? And while we're on the subject, does anyone know where I can watch Cornell-Harvard hockey in Charleston, SC, the following day?by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

Wow, great free video. Just imagine how great it would be if it cost $8. 7-0 CU to start the game.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: ECAC R2 G2: Union 2 Cornell 3 (final) - 16 years ago
metaezraDeltaOne81metaezraAt the risk of raining on our own parade, I'll quip that we still haven't beaten anybody better than us in the ECAC. We just did... twice in a row. Ok, I know its 'just Union', but they were one of the 4 we couldn't beat. It's kind of a technicality, but Union and Cornell were tied in the league with 25 points each. Union won the head-to-head tiebreaker, thus securinby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC R2 G2: Union 2 Cornell 3 (3rd) - 16 years ago
Looks like we're the only ones who can sit around and watch the NCAA hoops selection show tomorrow, too. Three-game series across the board.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC R2 G2: B2 sucks - 16 years ago
If I wanted something that would be unreliable, cut in and out, and sometimes fail all together, I would listen to the Union audio for free. Oh wait, that's what I am doing. And after the game, I will spend my $8 on beer.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey: The Fan Experience - 16 years ago
For the life of me, I was trying to figure out why it looks like we're defending our side of the ice in the second period. Then I figured it out... it's 19.4 seconds left in the 2nd INTERMISSION, the refs are getting set at center ice, and Scrivens is scraping the crease. Not sure what's going on at our penalty box, though...by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey: The Fan Experience - 16 years ago
This is the thread I've been looking for (read: should have started). We can go on for days about the game and its implications for the season, but it's nothing more than a bad non-conference, neutral-site loss. The Red will hopefully recover and move on. I can't say much more about the experience than Rich has already said (except possibly adding "Rum Bar" to his "Beer"by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
Knowing Jack Parker's respect for the Faithful, and hearing his comments about BU not being the "home team" in that building, I have no doubt his instructions to his players were clear: take the crowd out of the game early. Regarding the attendance, they reported it as the full 18,200, but I would guess there were about 2000 scattered empty seats. Maybe fewer. I have a friend who'sby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Lax Semis: Where2Watch: New York - 16 years ago
I'm working in Queens this weekend, but might be able to get to Manhattan by 2:30... is anyone setting up Ship of Fools? Otherwise I'll just end up watching it at home. Bigger TV.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA pond scum - lax seating rules - 16 years ago
Yeah, that sucked. And if you ended up rooting for Cornell in the Albany section, security came by and placed you accordingly. At least I saw that happen to one guy. Amazing game. Worth driving in the rain both ways to sit in the sun.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

If you can't make it to a location showing the game, CN8.com looks like it will be carrying a free live webcast. You have to hunt for the CN8 Live! link in the New England region. The Maine-MSU game is on now, and the Cornell game is on the schedule. Of course, I'll still be going out to watch it, but I thought this was another viable option.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
