Re: Princeton Roll Call - 11 years ago
billhoward In for Saturday. Appreciate getting a report on how full the rink really was on Friday. Princeton always reports a sellout for RS games vs. Cornell and Harvard and SRO seats are always available, as are seats. Could Princeton fans really take a shine to hockey in March? Their spring break is not until March 16-24. Will do, if I remember. We may make the trip Saturday if I can get ouby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Princeton Roll Call - 11 years ago
Trotsky Could be worse. We're getting the Storm of the Century. Wait, what's this now? I should probably check the weather before buying tickets that require an hour drive. Also, I should edit my initial post to say I only have tickets for Friday. Probably can't make Saturday.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Princeton Roll Call - 11 years ago
Just bought mine, +3. Section 126, which are nearly the worst seats possible for trying to see the end where we shoot twice. Edited to add: Friday only, for nowby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Yale 2013 - 11 years ago
kingpin248 Greenberg '97 So are the standings accurate on uscho.com? Do we go to Brown next weekend or are there tiebreakers they're not taking into account? CHN has it listed correctly; Cornell plays at Princeton next weekend. Right, right. CHN. Rookie mistake.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Ferris State In Progress - 12 years ago
ansky629 Just a question for the more educated hockey fan: When the Ferris player took the tripping penalty and then the 5 minute hitting from behind, why didn't the tripping penalty get served? When a minor and major are called on the same player, is the minor ignored? I'll have to check the box score when it's over, but I thought a Cornell player was called for a roughing after the major,by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Ferris State In Progress - 12 years ago
OK, I've defended the "cycle" power play as long as I can. That major was the worst five minutes of hockey I've seen in my life.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

css228 May have violated noise restrictions in my house when Craig scored. Didn't matter here. Three-year-old was up to watch it with me.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Michigan already assuming victoy over Cornell - 12 years ago
CUrafter Finally muted the sound after the 21st mention of the "Michigan 2-0 lead 90 seconds into the game." These announcers and producers are giving Cornell minimal respect You mean the "CORNELL BIG REG ?" (graphic before the start of the third)by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Other Regional Scores - 12 years ago
releck97 Miami was down 3-0. Now 3-3 with 10 minutes to go! Great game... Except the part about it pre-empting Cornell.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Regional Comprehensive TV Schedule - 12 years ago
Greenberg '97 French Rage I like ESPN3, but perhaps next year they could get more than one sponsor to run commercials? Mama mia! If Miami scores another goal, we're all going to like ESPN3. Like that. Damn.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

snert1288 I don't know what his intentions were, but I'm fairly certain he never played lacrosse for Cornell. Wikipedia never lies. I'll hunt for independent verification. But I've also heard that his intention was to play lacrosse more than hockey. Edit: I trust this more than Wikipedia. Looks like he had intended to play both, but learned he had to commit full time to hockey when he aby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Is there a New York event? - 12 years ago
A-ron Anyone have ideas for NYC? I remember watching Cornell basketball at a three floor bar in Murray Hill. Any thoughts on a place where we could have a small room in the back of a bar? I think you're thinking of Tonic (411 Third Avenue, 212-683-7090). They get busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so you might have trouble grabbing a TV. Not a bad idea to call, though. As for me, my afterby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

ninian '72 Having gone to Michigan for grad school, I think this is just too subtle an analysis. The football rivalry with tOSU is huge with the fan base, no matter what the sport. Playing the Ohio State fight song will have a bigger impact than either the Notre Dame or MSU tune. Go band! I'm looking forward to hearing it on the broadcast. I'm just wondering how we're going to get a tuba playerby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Jordan 04 I'd take Bridgeport in a heartbeat! I believe this is what's called a grassroots movement. The ECAC should listen to its best-travelling fan base.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game & site critique - 12 years ago
Kyle Rose I think Bridgeport is worth a try: it's roughly two hours further from Potsdam and Ithaca than Albany, which is unfortunate, but still a hell of a lot closer and cheaper than AC. Just make it one year at first instead of three in case it doesn't work out. In a rare agreement with Kyle, I would love to see the tournament move to Bridgeport. Trotsky Generally speaking, I think the Boardwalk crew did the best with what they had. Security were not overtly dickish and the turnstile and concessions people were professional. We arrived with two strollers and asked one of the ushers if there was a place we could store them. She pointed to the wheelchair-accessible seats between 107 and 207 and said that our whole party could sit thereby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

adamw Re: Boston - said it before every time it comes up, will say it again ... this is not 1970 or even 1985 ... The Boston-area teams being in the ECAC tournament were a huge factor. They don't exist anymore except Harvard, and Harvard doesn't even draw for the Beanpot anymore. Also, the ECAC tournament was huge then - it had major importance, much more than today, in the grand scheme of thingsby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game - attendance - 12 years ago
Josh '99And for marketing purposes, if East Rutherford is close enough that the NFL can call it "New York" (for the Giants and the Jets, and presumably for the 2014 Super Bowl) then Newark is close enough that the ECAC can do the same. Maybe it's ridiculous, but it's a thought. All this talk of Newark, yet I don't think I've seen anyone mention the Izod Center (nee Brendan Byrne Arenby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game - attendance - 12 years ago
RichH Trotsky Kyle RoseI know lots of people with no Hockey East association who go to the HE tournamentI wonder how much of that is the Boston area connection, where college hockey is prominent and lots of fans have six degrees of separation connections via having grown up with players, coaches, etc. Well, here's a crack at a crackpot theory. It's about institutional branding. Specifically,by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

judy Dear Hockey Gods, Friday is my birthday. Please let me enjoy it. Thanks. Love you! -judy Note to Hockey Gods: Judy also likes to enjoy the day after her birthday. (Hockey Gods can be quite literal, you know. 9pm start, maybe an overtime or two...)by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game - attendance - 12 years ago
kingpin248Another thing: during the trophy presentation, neither the rink announcer nor Steve Hagwell made any mention of hoping to see people back in 2013. There were also no flyers being distributed offering fans a chance to preorder tickets for next year's finals, as there were in 2011.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

jtwcornell91 Greenberg '97 Jayson Moy updated his bracketology blog after tonight's games. If I'm reading correctly, it basically boils down to Cornell being in with a win or tie, out with a loss.
