Re: Calling All Cowbell Alums / State of the Cowbell - 7 years ago
CowbellGuy In the meantime, I won't be able to make it Saturday. Slight possibility of Sunday if things go well, but is anyone going to be there and able to cover? This would fulfill a dream I've had for over 20 years. However, I own neither a cowbell nor rhythm.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

GBR1234 If CU plays in Providence or Manchester, I am close enough to attend. Can someone please advise me of the best way to get tickets after the venues are announced? Should I jump right on and buy tickets from the NCAA site or try to get them through Cornell ticket office from school allotment? Walk up to box office. Buy ticket. If they win, buy tickets for game 2 from dejected losingby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Swampy Greenberg '97 Dafatone I'd been maybe planning on going if we went to Fargo. Sold out? Then screw it, let's stay east. Tickets will become available once the field is announced, either through school allotments or on the secondary market as people scramble to change plans. Also, before someone jumps on my post above, I know Harvard won't go west as a top 4 team. Yes, but if they lby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

RichH Adam has a interesting and probably true take. However with a lot of the outside-the-bubble teams getting autobids, I found a way where we're 7 and UND is 8. In terms of NCAAs, Cornell might be better off losing Sat night. Win, and it's probably going to Fargo region of death with NDak and Denver— Adam Wodon (@CHN_AdamWodon) March 18, 2017 Depends on how much value they'reby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Jason Moy's final - 8 years ago
jkahn marty Jason has to make a switch this year that wasn't even on the radar for me. None of the host schools are in the tourney. (Sorry Goofers, and Brown!) RPI (Union?!?) is not the host in Albany. The ECAC is the host there. I think one puts Q in Albany because ECAC hosts, but Jason had them in Worcester initially. He did move them to Albany for Boston school attendance in Worcester whicby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: NCAA Tournament Possibilities - 8 years ago
Since I don't have the time to run some 3,000,000 combinations, can anyone give me a cheat sheet for tonight? I know that Michigan winning the B1G is crucial, but do either of tonight's games affect us much? I actually get to watch them in HD, so I'd like to know my rooting interests.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology Begins - 8 years ago
Trotsky I've never heard of it. But I'm sure shagwell tried. It's just not a good product. The league should pay to air it, like beach volleyball or a weights infomercial. FIOS (Westchester NY) has it listed on Channel 481, "Arise News." However, despite having programs listed in the directory (mostly college basketball and hockey games from earlier in the season), there's beeby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Quarterfinals Cornell @ Q 03/11/16 - 8 years ago
I know this is last minute, but I just called the ticket office. Despite the bleak picture painted online (SRO with just a few individual seats), they are selling tickets in the Q student section because the kids are on break. We were able to get 4 seats together in Section 111. 203-582-3905 $16 for adults, $6 for children Let's Go Red!by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey (Screw BU!) - 8 years ago
upprdeck there have been multiple Madison square gardens, i think even multiple ones at the same time if i remember history not all at the same location and were there not also multiple arenas in the same building at one time? There are multiple Madison Square Gardens right now. How do you know the Big Red players don't cavort here before or after games?by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Men's Lacrosse 2015 - 9 years ago
Greenberg '97 Laxpower gives them a 100% chance of getting an at-large bid. I have no idea how accurate this is, just throwing it out there since we need something to talk about and polls are meaningless. And after yesterday's results, they now have an 80.92% chance of receiving an at-large bid. So I guess that 100% from earlier in the week wasn't really 100%.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

Re: Tough times for Cornell athletics - 9 years ago
Scersk '97 I had no idea during my "salad days" that I was watching the tail end of some football "golden years." Cornell's football excitement ended on a broken play fullback option at Baker Field. I still have to change the channel whenever Marcellus Wiley comes on.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Cornell is not on the NCAA bubble anymore. It's win the Ivy tournament or break out the golf clubs. What makes you think they're any good at golf? I mean, have you seen the way they play lacrosse?by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

billhoward Inside Lacrosse cites the wrong Pennsylviania school. Looks right to me. The ACC fifth place team plays Penn in something called the "ACC-Penn Classic" at PPL park, the same weekend as the ACC tournament.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

KeithK (Except maybe set off a nice EMP to blow out all the connected devices... sadly we probably couldn't get approval for that...) Approval? No one got approval to tie a chicken to the goalposts, and look where that's gotten us.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Time for a New Arena thread - 9 years ago
Trotsky The fan atmosphere will return when the team wins. The last time the fans sucked was during the 93-95 dip. It's not magic. I personally like the defensive style, but it is definitely not as involving for the fans, and it's just brutal when they're bad. That will not change under Mike, but we shouldn't be surprised that Lynah has taken on a far less intense feeling than during the frby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Time for a New Arena thread - 9 years ago
Towerroad I agree. Fenway is a dump. I have been to the new Detroit part and is is really nice. Comfortable seats and easy access to concessions. And then there is the Cathedral of Baseball, Yankee Stadium. The new stadium is georgous, historic, and comfortable and the temple of the graceful extraction of money from your wallet. billhoward Jim Hyla And finally, Adam's CHN editorial on the subject. And here's Ken Schott's article that Adam mentions. Followed by the article in the Lowell Sun that Ken Schott discussed. Attendance at all league tournaments is not good and likely to be the same at NCAA regionals. Did the ECACs have free broadcast TV that reached through the Northeast, or just PPV? Re: Brackets - 9 years ago
Iceberg billhoward Both BU and BC have regionals in the Northeast/East and then finals at Boston Garden. Unfortunately the Boston Garden you're thinking of was torn down in 1996. Unfortunately, the BU and BC men's hockey teams were not inside at the time.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Lake Placid - 9 years ago
Looks like there's no way to get Q out of the tournament now. Wins by Colgate, BU, and Minnesota should get three ECAC teams in.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Women's Hockey 2015 - 9 years ago
Jim Hyla You're right. I was going by the USCHO App, which even now lists us as tied for 7th and ND 10th in PWR. Interesting that they went with straight rankings rather than swap Q with BU. That would've kept the higher-ranked team in its home market, and would have avoided the ECAC first-round matchup. Re: Women's Hockey 2015 - 9 years ago
Jim Hyla Rita The women grab a 2-1 lead early in the third and then implode. Harvard quickly ties it and goes on a goal scoring spree. 7-3 is the final. I'm not a PWR guru, but I think the women are out of the NC$$ tourney; they needed to win today to get the auto bid. Seems very weird to have hockey end so soon. The women's is not tied to the PWR. They have the option of valuing H2H moby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Women's Hockey 2015 - 9 years ago
Not the result we wanted. And BU beating BC isn't going to help our PWR. I also see that CHA gets an autobid this year. Unless some strange math bumps us up a slot, the college hockey season is over.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Women's Hockey 2015 - 9 years ago
Jim Hyla So who do we root for in the second semi? H or Q? Shoot, don't matter to me. I'll be coaching my son during that matchup.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Women's Hockey 2015 - 9 years ago
Jim Hyla dag14 Even better, the women come from behind to beat Clarkson. Two, if not all three of our goals scored in the third period. 3, now the question is, can it help our Pairwise enough to get us in, even if we lose tomorrow. Somehow, we dropped a spot. I didn't look into the reasons, but other results must have hurt us. Edit: Nope, no other results yet today. Hmmm....by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
