Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell - Providence - 5 years ago
billhoward Game drew 5,231, leaving 9,100 empty seats. If we lost 3-2 in overtime we'd have a case to complain about home-town advantage. If the NCAA adjusts seedings or regional placements slightly to help attendance, Cornell is going to benefit more than many teams by being placed somewhere driveable. There were a LOT of yellow high school buses helping PC students get to and from the game. Aby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Just walked in the door after my 3 hour drive of shame. Looks like everything's been covered here. But to add insult to original insult was the closing chant of "This is our house!" Yeah, we know.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Anne 85 I know there were people who couldn't make the 1R but were planning on the QF. Count my family of 5 among those. Stars aligned and we're on our way. LGR!by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

CU77 If a host team didn't get to play at it's own site, no one would host. The systems is as fair as it's going to get in the real world. Except that Brown is the host, not Providence.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Day 1 (March 29) - 5 years ago
jtwcornell91 I was distracted by the end of the SCSU-AIC game. How did Barry go from convinced the "last entry" was offsides to sure the goal would count? Conclusive replay. Reverse angle showed the puck was a good foot over the line before a skate crossed.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Northeastern - 5 years ago
Christopher Boulay Arguably the strongest team not named St. Cloud State or Minnesota-Duluth this season, the Mavericks are in prime position to make a run. So you're arguing that the third-ranked team in the country may be the strongest team that isn't the first- or second-ranked team? Interesting take.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Beeeej Greenberg '97 Beeeej If dss28 and I make it at all, it'll be to the Sunday regional final (and obviously only if Cornell wins on Saturday). Has anybody seen any information on what time the Sunday final would be? It doesn't seem to be on any NCAA information I've seen. NCAA.com bracket shows 4pm Really? Are you looking somewhere other than ? See link to printable bracket in edited pby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Poor OP just wanted a ride to a hockey game. Instead he got a lesson in bad comedy. I'll see myself out.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Win two at the Dunk to earn a trip to Buffalo? With Minnesota State in the same regional? Seems like a novel idea.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC SF Lake Placid: Brown vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
djk26 Great job so far, Cornell. Anyone know anything about the women's game? No score, 8 minutes left in first. Live stats here.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: ECAC QF Game 1: Union 3 Cornell 2 - 5 years ago
Trotsky Somebody else please do the game threads from now on. I have a shitty record. No Trotsky, this is my fault. The hockey gods didn't like me wearing my Cornell sweatshirt while walking around Lake Placid this afternoon.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-BU - 6 years ago
RichH Jim Hyla This group could have as easily been in Bridgeport. There, a substantial CU alumni and student base in NYC, remember we have a couple of campuses there, could take public transportation back and forth from NYC. That would have benefited the number 1 regional seed, but no, they chose to benefit the number 4 regional seed. There's a century-old perception of a Notre Dame connectiby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell on TV 2017-18 - 6 years ago
ugarte Beeeej EDIT: The ECAC noted that these were the only links provided to them by ElevenSports, but we can check back to see if there are any changes later. I might try contacting ES directly. If there's a $10/game charge for the stream at the ECAC site it seems unlikely that there will be the ECAC will promote a free twitch stream. FYPby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: The Greatest Game I Ever Played In - 7 years ago
Willy '06 We were watching in my now wife's Collegetown apartment with her roommates. I repositioned on the couch and accidentally sat on the remote. The channel changed, and when we quickly changed it back, Wisconsin was celebrating. So it's all your fault!by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: The Greatest Game I Ever Played In - 7 years ago
ugarte meanwhile, my wife was so pissed off at me that night - i was supposed to meet her at a party and, well, triple overtime ... I was five minutes late to my own hockey game. Which wouldn't have been a big deal if I wasn't the goalie.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2017 - Penn 10-9 - 7 years ago
billhoward Note this: With just a couple seconds left to play to protect that one goal lead, Penn's clear was this: loft the ball skyward into the far end of the field. No danger of a takeaway. Fortunately, a game where this play would have resulted in a national championship never actually happened. We're still repressing, right?by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

ugarte abmarks Trotsky ugarte abmarks check out Donatos goal to make it 2-0 over AFA. Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
Figures. After listening to the first four periods on the drive, I get to the hotel in Manchester which has ESPN2 but not U. I finally set ny computer up to the WiFi and can't find the game because it's supposed to be over. I eventually find it but it freezes. Next time it plays they're already celebrating in the corner. Bottom line is, Let's Go Red!by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Ticket Info - 7 years ago
billhoward I heard this looked great on TV but the crowd was equal to about half the stadium capacity (15K of 30K) so there was little room to move around. I think Princeton said it was the NCAA that did it. Bill, guess which two members of elynah commented at the time...by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Ticket Info - 7 years ago
wakester2468 Couldn't agree more. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if the NCAA is responsible for this. A full lower level with cameras focused on it creates a much better image. Look how they screwed Harvard. Nothing about them should ever be unexpected. When Princeton hosted the lacrosse quarterfinal a number of years ago, they packed all the fans onto one side of the stadium. At the time,by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

CowbellGuy Greenberg '97 CowbellGuy In the meantime, I won't be able to make it Saturday. Slight possibility of Sunday if things go well, but is anyone going to be there and able to cover? This would fulfill a dream I've had for over 20 years. However, I own neither a cowbell nor rhythm. Cowbells I gots. Can't help you with the other.
