Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Good Luck, Cornell! - 15 years ago
BeeeejbadgerWanted to let you know you'll have some Badgers cheering for you tonight! I've had a soft spot for Cornell ever since that epic game against UW in the Green Bay Regional in 2006. That still remains the best hockey game I have ever seen. Go Big Red! Classy, well-said, and most welcome. I had nothing but overwhelmingly positive interactions with Wisconsin fans who spotted my Corby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

canuck89Anyone having problems with both feeds today, notably the ustream one?? Just a gray screen? Yeah, there's about 450 of us in the room waiting for the host to show up. In the meantime, there's audio here:by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Westchester - 15 years ago
I was also considering Lazy Boy tonight, just for a change of pace and some better food and beer options than the Bear. But I'm starting to think it's Ship of Fools or nothing for me. I've exhausted my sports bar budget for the month, so if I'm going to watch hockey out three nights in a row, I might as well do it in style.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Northeastern 2 (Postgame thread) - 15 years ago
ansky629 By the way - does anybody know if there's a reason he hates us? Or is it just that he really doesn't like our style of play? I believe it's because our bars close at 1:00.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: Westchester - 15 years ago
MattShafIf there is interest, Black Bear Saloon in White Plasins has ESPN U and will show the game. Can't speak for any beer specials. If there is no interest I will probably be watching from home (thanks Verizon Fios) in HD (if the games are being broadcast in HD) Too bad I didn't read this before going out. I was at the Sports Page, which was generous enough to give me two TVs. Haven'tby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: espnu getting ahead of itself - 15 years ago
jtwcornell91 Well, yeah, but then it's silly calling it a "Regional" at all. As I recall people wanted to make a big deal of the face that only one team comes out of a regional in the 16-team tournament, as opposed to when two teams came out of each 6-team regional. They could move to a basketball-like nomenclature (formerly men's, currently women's), calling it the "Grand Rapidby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: espnu getting ahead of itself - 15 years ago
BeeeejGreenberg '97A bit ambitious a caption on the website of the network that's allegedly covering the tournament? Since that's a constantly-changing page, and most people who read it after tonight won't know what you're talking about, I assume you're talking about the link "Cornell wins regional with goal in final moments"? Re: espnu getting ahead of itself - 15 years ago
Yes, we're all Ivy Leaguers here. Thanks to those who figured it out and explained it. I was going to edit the post with an explanation once the page was corrected, but I sometimes like to make people work for the punchline.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

A bit ambitious a caption on the website of the network that's allegedly covering the tournament? Edit: I'm talking about this line... Five goals slipped by Notre Dame to take the 1-seed out. Bemidji State is in the Frozen Four.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

cbuckserAnd, this has been a phenomenal NCAA Tournament so far. Holy crap, my head is about to explode with its phenomenalness. Another win tomorrow, and then I'm going to need about 10 days to calm down.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

No matter here, Cablevision doesn't offer ESPNU. Time to cancel the Sports Pak and find myself a sports bar... again. At least ESPNU is easier to locate than Altitude.by Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: ECAC on TV - 15 years ago
For anyone with Cablevision, the NHL Network is available as part of a sports tier, for $5.95 a month. This package also includes three Fox Sports College stations which are picking up two or three of the other conference tournament games. Unfortunately the NCAAs switch to ESPNU, which is not available on Cablevision. Cablevision has told me that I can order the Sports Pak and cancel at anytby Greenberg '97 - Hockey
Re: bizarre Big City Classic ticket pricing - 15 years ago
This website might explain it: Mezzanine Level Yard Lines (229, 233, 209-213) - Rating We rate Mezzanine Level (200 level) yard lines as the best seats in the house. These seats do not include the VIP amenities that you’ll find in the premium sections of other stadiums around the league, but that’s only because Giants Stadium doesn’t offer many VIP amenities in any section. Westchester - 15 years ago
Does anyone prefer Westchester to NYC? I can possibly make a few phone calls if there's some interest. There are a few bars in White Plains that will show all the games, but I can see about getting a room or at least a small area reserved. Obviously, I'll make sure that they're willing to give us a TV with NHL Network immediately after. Email me: mikegberg aol. I'll post back when and iby Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Did you notice...? - 15 years ago
I don't know if this is worth starting a new thread over, but last night I was listening to the Cornell-RPI game with the World Baseball Classic muted on the TV. A few minutes after the hockey game was over and I had turned the sound back on on the baseball game, the first two bars of "Give My Regards" was played by the stadium organist, as a quick time-filler between pitches. Re: March Madness: NCAA Div. I Men's Basketball Tournament - 15 years ago
Early scheduling puts our game in the 3:00 slot. So... we need to find a bar that gets all four CBS feeds, and then agrees to keep one TV on the NHL network. Anyone looking to watch in Queens or Westchester? No Manhattan for me this year.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports

Jacob '06Just mentioned this in the alumni thread. The sad part was that they said places like Harvard and Cornell. Don't know how Harvard got in there. Obviously he was referring to Bright when it takes the form of Lynah East. Can anyone verify if the "Go Start the Bus" chant was correctly credited to Binghamton of the AHL? Josh '99Lenny has been solid for Hartford down the stretch leading into the playoffs. He played back-to-back Friday and Saturday nights, winning 4-1 and 5-2, before getting today's game (another win for the Wolf Pack) off. Hartford starts their first round playoff series against Portland on Wednesday and I think Dave should get a good chance to showcase his skills in the postseason. And thoseby Greenberg '97 - Hockey

Re: Mercury Bar - PACKED - 16 years ago
Just realized that my opening post reads like a facetiming thing. Sorry. I guess that's because the game wasn't much to discuss. At least we're not Mississippi Valley State. By the way, I expected far more raucousness when the feed dropped for 5 minutes in the first half. And no one was biting on my Stanford... Sucks! attempts. These were obviously not hockey fans. Mercury Bar - PACKED - 16 years ago
Great showing at the Mercury Bar for the game. My coworkers couldn't even make to where I was at the back bar, so they gathered at the bar next door, which had a decent overflow crowd. I randomly asked one guy how he heard about the gathering there, and he said it came up on several lists that he's on. When I said it was being talked about on the hockey forum, his reply was "I thought tby Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: Mercury Bar , NYC - CONFIRMED - 16 years ago
Mercury has a few decent-sized TV's behind the bar, and a couple of larger ones on the outside walls, if memory serves. Since this is the only game at 5:00, they should all be tuned to it. I wouldn't worry about it too much.by Greenberg '97 - Other Sports
Re: Mercury Bar , NYC - CONFIRMED - 16 years ago
Make you a deal - if you get there first, grab the best seat you can in front of the best TV you can, and if you save me the second best seat, your first beer's on me. Still deciding what to wear. I might actually go for the bright and hideous Cornell tie, since it's the only Cornell clothing I own that I can get away with even for business casual.
