Re: Cornell 2, CC 0 (game 1 Friday) - 11 years ago
I thought the officiating was perfectly ok. It was a physical game and I think Cornell was the more physical team. It was not a sticky game with lots of hooking, holding and interference that I hate to watch. Cornell delivered some really hard open ice hits that they correctly did not call a penalty on. Of course there were a couple of calls I did not see or did not quite agree with but givby Steve Rockey - Hockey
Mathieu Brisson - 11 years ago
I just looked at the 2012/13 roster and there are only 7 defenders. No Mathieu Brisson. So what is the story? The 7 defenders we have look pretty good but defensemen get injured and starting with 7 is not ideal.by Steve Rockey - Hockey

Re: Clarkson with 8 draft picks Drew, Actually I would love to know your thoughts. I am quite puzzled by Clarkson's performance this year. --Steveby Steve Rockey - Hockey

Who will be the candidates to start at short stick defensive midfield?by Steve Rockey - Other Sports
Re: Men's lax to play UVA - 15 years ago
Dorne was in effect announce earlier in the roster on the web but I wondered what the story was. Gradinger is a surprise to me but he clearly had limited mobility (maybe not the right word -- flexibility, quickness, ??) last year (and the year before) although I loved his very physical defense in close. The defense has question marks but I hope it will be ok.by Steve Rockey - Other Sports
Re: Preseason Polls/Teams - 15 years ago
Wow. I understand the methodology which seems reasonable. This is very much like I would call it. Two things that give me pause: Cornell in #3 and Clarkson in #2 when I expect the reverse but I think it is a close call. Yale so high seems strange but they were very young, no significant graduation losses, and what seems like an ok recruiting class. I like the look of this much bby Steve Rockey - Hockey
Re: Preseason Polls/Teams - 15 years ago
I would rank Clarkson #2 and Harvard #4. Unfortunately I think #3 is about right for us unless our seniors have a stand out year like Harvard's seniors did last year. Perhaps if the Nash brothers are both 1st team All American then we might go somewhere.by Steve Rockey - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
As I read the rules and the NCAA lets you have 5 years to use 4 years of eligibility but the Ivy's say 4 with possible exceptions. An injury that causes you to miss a full season is often granted as an exception (John Glynn on our lax team) but cheating will not be a persuasive reason. If Christian can not play hockey as a senior (next year not this year) it would probably kill any dreams of prby Steve Rockey - Hockey
Re: NCAA Quarterfinals: Cornell v. Albany (pre-game) - 16 years ago
When I took a look at it I saw we have more overlap than I realized. I know this does not mean a whole lot but.... Opponents CU Score Albany Score Binghamton 19-4 8-9 "Loss" Colgate 16-6 13-10 Yale 19-8 12-10 Syracuse 16-15 13-17 "Loss" Dartmouth 17-3 15-14by Steve Rockey - Other Sports
Re: 2007 stats - 17 years ago
If you calculated the statistics as points per game or goals per game I think we would be represented in the top 20.by Steve Rockey - Other Sports
Re: NetMinders - 17 years ago
Goaltending techniques have changed so much since the 1960's that comparisons and even descriptions for those who did not see the old style are very difficult. Dryden played at Cornell before the butterfly was really used in college hockey but I it was starting to show up in the NHL. Dryden was described as a "stand up" goalie as opposed to a flopper. Re: Cornell Penalty Shots - 17 years ago
I recall a penalty shot scored by Peter Shire where he unleashed one of his brutal slap shots from just inside the blue line. This was his regular place to shoot from and he scored a lot from that range. I think it also caught the goalie totally off guard. It was probalby his senior year 1978 when he scored 24 goals and it was a home game.by Steve Rockey - Hockey

I am going to the Brown game. Any suggestions on where to eat before the game or where to grab a drink after the game. --Steveby Steve Rockey - Hockey
Re: Cornell 11 York 1 - 17 years ago
Carefoot left the ice with one glove off. He did not appear to be in obvious pain but I thought it was curious he had the glove off. I am pretty sure he went in the training room and not the locker roomby Steve Rockey - Hockey
