It's that time again.  In working up the Predictions, I need a list of the non-seniors from last year who are not returning to ECAC rosters.

Also: anyone who took a season off and is thus not on last year's roster but is returning, or anyone transferuing in from another D-1 team, are of interest.

So far I have examples of all three types from Cornell:

EARLY DEPARTS:
McKee, Cornell
Pokulok, Cornell

PRODIGAL SONS:
Davenport, Cornell

D-I TRANSFERS:
Fontas, Cornell

Any others from other teams?

Quinnipiac has two D-I transfers from New Hampshire who are eligible for 2006-07 after sitting out last year, Travis and Doherty. Neither one contributed much as freshmen or sophomores for the Wildcats, but both were drafted.

Clarkson has a D-I transfer from Air Force, Merkowsky, but I don't think he's eligible for 2006-07.

RPI Prodigal Son: Kirk MacDonald is expected to be back after a year off as a medical redshirt.

BROWN Early Departure: Adam D'Alba quit the team, I believe.

USCHO is reporting that he's eligible as of September 2006.

St. Lawrence is apparently getting a transfer from St. John's named Casey Parenteau who also will be eligible as of September 2006.
Is next year here yet?

Is he eligible because he's transferring from a service academy?

I don't know.  I'm merely regurgitating what USCHO tells me. :-P

Isn't it all moot because he decided to attend Clarkson but not play hockey? At least this was reported on the Clatkson Forum a while back. He was removed from Heisenberg's list.

Drew

Merkowsky has decided to concentrate all his efforts on being a student....he is giving up on hockey all together.

I ask because I think I remember other incidents in other sports of service academy people transferring and playing immediately, and was hoping someone else would look it up for me :)

Yale football...Rashad someone...I'll figure it out.

Edit: Rashad Bartholomew, Yale '01.  "Because Yale is in Division I-AA and Air Force plays I-A football, he was able to transfer without having to sit out for a season." http://www.yaleherald.com/archive/xxvi/9.25.98/sports/aow.html

I guess it's more a DI-A to DI-AA thing than a service to non-service thing.  Other input welcome if anyone else is curious enough to research this (now moot) point!

Drew

Liz,
He did sit out the past year.  While sitting out, he enjoyed campus life and decided not to pursue hockey anymore.  He did not receive a "military" exception, so to speak.
He is elible to play this year if wants to and makes the team.
Cheers,
Drew

Thanks Drew.  That he'd already been at Clarkson for a year is a detail that escaped me :)

He had testicular cancer. Although all reports say that he is fit to play, my fingers are still crossed.
