Mercyhurst has really been in this all the way.  Granted, the shots are 58-20 (!), but the Lakers have had plenty of good chances turned away, too.

5 BC players in their own goal trying to keep the puck out...what a fun game!

Final, 5-4.  Lakers had a half dozen great chances in the last minute, spurred by Champagne (the kid who won their tourny, IIRC), but couldn't quite net the tying goal.

Mercyhurst is the only team to score 4 goals on BC this year.

Great Job by Mercyhurst though

Boo.  While I didn't expect Mercyhurst to win, I would have laughed my ass off on USCHO if they had.  This just goes to show that you can't underestimate any team come tournament time.

Everyone's right... Mercyhurst is a joke and doesn't deserve to be there...

Lowell did it on 2/19 at home, 4-1.

Damn straight I did.

(Gotta stick that joke in every once in a while.)

Announcers made reference to the Colorado College - Colgate game and one point noted how Colgate may well have the best goalie in the nation.

At another point they noted how Colgate has a lot to prove because they won the ECAC championship last year but didn't get to the NCAAs. That must be the Clarkson-favorite championship: regular season.

To be fair, the regular season winner does in fact now get a cup; at the time Clarkson fans were bitching, winning the regular season meant approximately dick.

FWIW, what happened to that rivalry while I was comatose in grad school?  I recall the Clarkson rivalry being the most intense during my years ('94-98) and I developed a lot of respect for their program.  Recently, however, it seems they are mediocre, and overly physical in comparison to their skill level.  Maybe this deserves its own thread. ::uptosomething::

From the number of penalties in the first two games, is this any indication that the refs will be calling a lot on us because we're rough around the boards?
