Quote from: BearLover on February 04, 2026, 12:54:58 AMWhen you're like 1-11 in that game in the time you've been a fan, it doesn't matter how great the rest of the playoff run was. This program is going to be haunted by this recurring failure until we finally get over the hump.

You state these opinions like they are categorical truths.  But they're just in your head.  I do not feel that way at all.  So stop saying these things are facts.  They are your projections of whatever biographical nicks and cuts the razor blade of life has left on you.

Yes, it always sucks to lose, but to get that far has been for me an unmitigated positive and a blessing.
Please read your own posts and tell me how many you qualify with "I think..." and "in my opinion..." The answer is zero. You never do that. It's clear from reading interviews with Schafer and the players that they're incredibly frustrated with losing in the same round every year. Schafer said it after that loss, Stanley and Wallace have said it in interviews. It's not a stretch to say the program is haunted by repeated failure in the same game every season.

Also I don't even know what part of my post you're replying to. I obviously agree that to get that far it is an "unmitigated positive," as I said at the outset of my post. Once again, that does not change how horrible of a loss it was.

The only thing that's haunted is your toilet that can't stop your turds from floating back up.

Actually the toilet is the regional final and the turd is Cornell hockey. Let's hope Casey is a good plumber.

After 22+ years and 101 pages, I have this vision in my head of teenaged Isaac coming home one day and asking me how his Mom and I first met, followed by him perusing this thread, the look on his face growing more horrified by the minute.

"Well, that post was by your Uncle Mark... Faye and Kieran's Dad runs the site... cousin David and cousin Elie are over here... Oh! Remember Greg, the old guy who shouts at the furniture when we visit him in the home? Plus of course a lot of the posters are among the finest and most respected attorneys in the country. Why are you laughing?"

In the actual event, after 3 minutes he will get bored and amble away.

I'm picturing this conversation:

"Dad, how did you and Mom meet?"

"Well, son, I was a piano player in a whorehouse, and your mom was one of the working girls there, and we just wound up spending a lot of time together."

[Off her evil eye] "For god's sake, you don't expect me to tell him the TRUTH, do you??"

That article is just sad.  Not to mention, it uses 100 paragraphs just to state the little bastards at Sucks are entitled brats.

I had a ChemE professor who taught me a lesson about grading that I remember to this day.  He would give quizzes every other week, with a max score of 10.  On one quiz, I dropped a sign during the calculation.  Everything answer after that point was wrong, even though my methodology was perfect. I got a 6 out of 10. After class I went up to him to argue for a better grade using the argument that I knew what I was doing and I did everything right, I just dropped the sign.  His answer?  "You do that in real life and your plant doesn't work."

It's not about the grade.  It's about the result.

The flip side of this are the corporate annual evaluations that insist that no, really, 90% of you get a 3 out of 5 for your performance no matter how good or bad you actually are at your job.

And why when someone, often in government, has exemplary job performance ratings until they are dismissed - with those ratings used as grounds for wrongful termination.
