I don't believe he did. Mayich played in the OHL, and Casey was already at Cornell when the Major Junior path opened.

I don't believe he did. Mayich played in the OHL, and Casey was already at Cornell when the Major Junior path opened.

Was going to echo this, but I didn't fully remember which year the CHL-NCAA transfer stuff was confirmed.

When Joe Exter was hurt (23 years ago) there were blue and yellow ribbons handed out at Lynah. My recollection is that it was organic, unofficial, and involved some folks on here.

I think, even if we don't get a top-down approval of the idea, if you plan to attend the Clarkson game, it would be a nice gesture to source a yellow ribbon and pin it to your jersey.

Eventually, as things unfold, we may see, for example, Mayich's family ask that donations in their name be made to certain organizations, or things of that nature.

Wrote the part 2 of the small schools competing. Yes you definitely need money to retain players consistently. For RPI, Cornell, and the other Ivies, they probably have to lean into the academic reputation and recruiting good students who care about their education to have their roster retention without being able to pay players directly

An ASU spokesperson previously said the university was not going to identify the student-athlete involved in the incident due to privacy interests.

Robert Carey, an attorney for Mayich's family, said Wednesday the hockey player has no chance for recovery, stating "his body ceased functioning in a fundamental way, and this condition is irreversible."

Leonard Aragon, another attorney representing Mayich's family, told KTAR News on Tuesday that Mayich flew in from Ottawa, Canada, less than a week before his first practice in Arizona's heat, which he claims was led by a former Green beret who pushed the athletes to their limit and beyond with a military-style workout. He also alleged that the student-athletes would be punished for stopping or drinking water.
