You mean the committee should take into consideration like, say, who Cornell, with a different cast of Cornell coaches and players, played against in previous years? You're gonna overload the office of the Dean of Snowflake Restitution and Righting of Past Microaggressions which is already heavily loaded making sure everyone gets extra time on tests. How about we put more pucks behind the Denver goalie and move forward.

I mean there's one in Albany this year and they didn't put us there

I think he meant Cornell should figure out a way to host.

Beat you by 14 sec Marty. :D

That's because you have an iPhone and I'm using an S24. :o
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Alright buddy. We played Denver in 23 and 24. This will be our seniors third time playing Denver in the NCAA tourney in four years. Seems like a bit much.

Exactly. A tradition of meeting Denver and handing them revenge served ice cold, is a good thing. Remember '69.

Win and move on.

Carle did mention Cornell which is nice...

Carle is a class act and a helluva a coach.

Quote from: chimpfood on March 22, 2026, 04:00:56 PMWhy are we so against intra conference matchups but we can play BU and Denver in the NCAA tourney every year?

I don't even mind if they want to avoid intraconference games if possible, but when the alternative is having the lower seed play a better team on the better team's turf, the prejudice to the lower seed seems to far outweigh whatever the harm of an intraconference matchup is.

[Counterpoint: don't lose to Princeton.]

I agree, but thems the "rules". I could never understand the intraconference concern, especially if it does what this does. Maybe it makes sense if teams just met in the league playoffs, but that's not a problem here. We haven't played Dartmouth since 1/23, almost 2 months ago.

Years ago we used to complain about this a lot, playing Minny in Minny or Wisc in Wisc. Now it's DU in Colorado.

But if the coaches won't complain, expect it's here forever.

My man, my sophomore year ('85-'86), we played Denver in Denver, despite winning the ECAC at the Gahden.  Two games total goals.  We were the only road team to "win" one of the games, losing by one goal overall.  My ass has been chapped ever since.

Yes. I was there. Leading 3-0(5-4) after first period of night two. Won the game, lost the series.   So odd to pull the goalie while leading. Stupid system. At that time we were  small, they were big. Schaf at 5-9 was a tough guy D.

Mr. Niss

So apparently we're the only game on Friday (and one of only two overall) on ESPN+ and not ESPN2 or the U.

What's next?  We find out we've been pre-empted for another hour of cornhole?

semsox

Complaining about ESPN+? All I see is another person who wasn't around in the ILDN days...

Great! I can watch the game without having to figure out a workaround ... :D

BlueSky

I listened to the USCHO special podcast about the brackets and Jim Connelly, who is a smart analyst and bracket guru, stated a few times that the committee put Penn St. in ALB because they travel better than Cornell. This surprised me. We showed great at Springfield, less so in Manchester, and we host that little game in MSG every year in front of 17k.

Maybe I'm looking at it through red tinted glasses, but I was hopeful for ALB, but losing to Princeton sealed our fate as far as making it easy for the committee to send us west.

Hopefully the boys will get on their front foot in CO. Take out the Pios.

They don't actually mean PSU travels better, I think. PSU has had a team worth watching for maybe three years. They mean the McKenna Boostâ„¢. Also, bracket integrity or whatever. I promise you if Cornell was in Albany we'd sell a fuck ton of tickets.
