Quote from: VIEWfromK on November 23, 2025, 08:38:37 AMCornell had a lot of space to show off their skill and speed last night.  They were cruising along until the DiGiulian penalty and then struggled to regain the momentum until they came back out for the final forty.  This team has done an incredible job of being their best later in games.  Especially clamping down on D.  Where early on in the season the freshman were driving the offense, the upperclassmen have taken over.  I thought Walsh carried the puck to the front of the net on the fifth goal but must be an RPI player played the puck in between so he didn't get another assist?  RPI had such a tough time even gaining the offensive zone that they were hanging a guy out near their blue line and were content to let the game be played four on four in the defensive zone.  Wild.  There's a lot to like so far.  I'm looking forward to the upcoming test vs BU.  Should be a very different style of play than they have faced so far.

It was striking how much more open ice there was against RPI compared with Union. Lang will make RPI better, but they have a ways to go.

BU is famously STRUGGLING out there. Their defense tends to not show up half the time. Yegorov is still good, but he's been leaky recently - hasn't put up a s% above .900 more than twice in the past 10 games, which is also the amount of times he's been pulled. Once after only 12 minutes.
BU's coach is reaming them to the media. Like... dude... yikes... to the press...

(Another nice thing about Cornell I think, that we don't have quotes from Coach Jones floating around like that.)

Pandolfo's from Woburn.  That's what passes for motivation there.

Quote from: scoop85 on November 22, 2025, 09:56:48 PMInteresting that the ECAC has a winning cumulative record vs. HE but a losing record vs. Atlantic Hockey

Is there a quick way to view the inter-conference records?

collegehockeystatistics used to be my way.  But they dead.

umpteenth time I've posted this - so bookmark it NOW :)

And to whomever said the NPI tab was gone on the Android app ... I can see it, so I'm not sure what's up with that. Hopefully only a temporary glitch for you :)

Yes  Weird and very temporary.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

I watched the last five minutes of the first NU-BU game. NU won and it ended in a brawl, possibly the most viscous brawl I've seen. BU is *frustrated*. They eked out an OT win in their barn then next night against NU, but that's not good enough for that program. Cornell can definitely take advantage.

Pedantic ChemE comment:  Unless they were fighting in honey, it was a vicious brawl, not a viscous brawl.

I was struck by that, too. The hanger receiving the homerun pass created the breakaway in the first that gave RPI its one goal. In the second that's all RPI seemed to be trying (that, or I was paying attention more to it because I was in Section O watching our defensive zone that period) but Cornell's defense was wise to it and mostly not losing track of the hanger.

Absolutely, but I also worry that an angry BU team that can absolutely score + a Cornell defense with 3+ freshmen and a freshman goalie might = a ton of goals.

They will definitely need to stay disciplined on defense. Might as well learn how to do that now!

Quote from: Trotsky on November 22, 2025, 09:52:23 PMUp to #3 in NPI, at least for a while.

ECAC teams at 1, 3, 9, 14, 15.  Hopefully we do not all fall on our collectively asses during holiday NC play, and it isn't just a math illusion caused by Dartmouth being 100%.

I was curious if there was an ECAC inflation due to Dartmouth being undefeated. I should read up more on NPI. Instead, I used the customize option on CHN's site to calculate with Dartmouth losing a bunch of upcoming games. It pretty much just dropped Dartmouth down the ranks and minimally impacted the rest of the ECAC teams.

Iceberg

Dartmouth has a very favorable schedule the next three weekends and five of the games are in Hanover. I could realistically see them going at least 5-1 given their opponents, so the "inflation" could continue for a while

Very smart.  Thank you!

With 6 Ivies starting late and playing a smaller number of games, it's not surprising if one of them happens to start 6-0, particularly when they've played an easy schedule as Dartmouth has.

um, they beat the #3 team in the country?

I am also using Android and also have no issue with the NPI tab.

But since we're talking about the app, I'm wondering if I'm missing something, and if not, I guess the following could be considered a feature request.

If I have one favorite team selected (Cornell, obviously) it would be nice if the Standings tab and the Scores tabs defaulted to showing the ECAC first. Assuming there is no way to specify the order for the different leagues, displaying the leagues in order, based on the number of favorited teams in those leagues, would probably be seen as a benefit by all users.

(If there is a way to specify the league order I apologize for posting this, but I have not found it.)

And yes...it's not that hard to scroll. I only throw this out there as a possible improvement to an app that is already excellent and very useful.

Thanks!

I would say that's one of the many things in the pipeline as part of a UI overhaul. Just rolled out a new version today that starts the overhaul - but most of it is behind the scenes - plus making things a bit easier to find in the main navigation.
