Because the admin has never given mods the power to ban, only to delete posts. I've notified Age that the problem is once again out of control and well beyond my capacity to address.
Gaaaaah. Would be nice to even have, like, a mute function to suppress posting for even a week or so. That way, if you're waiting for a ban, you just re-up it weekly...

I read that Pelletier decided to ditch us because his posse has a low  tolerance for bots that require translation.  :o

Mods should be given the power!
It's well beyond what should be acceptable

stop throwing around words like "acceptable" for a free forum maintained at his own expense by a guy who doesn't even post here anymore. for my money the bots are a mild improvement over a lot of the earnest posting because at least I'm not tempted to read it. I'm being broken of a compulsive habit and don't mind it at all.

I think removing the compulsion to check social media/internet fora is a positive. Though, taking that to its logical extreme means we should delete this website entirely. And then we'll just end up chatting about Cornell sports at an even worse place, like Twitter. If ELynah is worth saving, then it's not acceptable for the first two pages of the forum to be Russian spamposts. Age does own the website, but (1) does he have to, or can he transfer ownership to someone else? and (2) if he does want or need to own ELynah, can he give the other mods the power to ban accounts? I don't think people are demanding Age check this website every day, but there are presumably easy solutions outside of that.

My use of the word acceptable was towards to constant Russian bots, not the administrator of the site. My bad if it was taken that way as that was not the intent
