This won't become law because the president doesn't have this authority, but notably this EO gives NCAA athletes five years of eligibility. For some reason there's been a push for that. Were it to ever happen, it would cripple the Ivy League, which does not permit grad student athletes.

I mean the NCAA is a private enterprise and should be able to run its own shit the way it wants. That being said, Trump can threaten to cut federal funding and then everyone either gets in line real fast or gets well and truly fucked, in many cases, while this goes through the courts.

"He can't DO that!" Are we still pretending that he can't or won't? Or that everyone won't cowtow to his whims?

Yes, sorry I was attempting a quote of the comment above you.

Looking at the moment like zero early departures from Quinnipiac or Dartmouth. Also, this year there were very few seniors on either team. The best senior, Jeremy Wilmer of Q, missed the second half of the season with injury and is trying to apply for a redshirt exemption to return for a fifth year. I believe he played too many games, and too late into the season, to be redshirt-eligible, but who knows anymore. Notably, Q's top three scorers this year were freshmen. Add it all up, and next year Q will be the clear favorite in the ECAC, with Dartmouth the clear second.

If it's only NY schools, there's not a lot of advantage to us.  The only schools are in Atlantic Hockey, which is a weak conference in terms of SOS, and our own conference, which does nothing in terms of out-of-conference record and precious little for SOS.

But it's more games in the NYC area which is good for alumni engagement (and of course donations)

A post on USCHO https://fanforum.uscho.com/threads/2026-27-schedules-thread.37285/post-2976645 stated that the participants are LIU, FSU, Army, and SLU. Last I heard, Ferris is not in NY. :)
