Quote from: BearLoverSo depressing. That was the opportunity to finally break through. Three years straight having our years ended by ultra-skilled teams with 13+ draft picks.

Well our lacrosse team is still #1!

These guys had the stuff of champions, regardless of this outcome. You don't play sports for moral victories, but they gave us everything we could have hoped for this year. Schafer deserved to win at least one natty, if we're being honest. A living legend. Thanks everyone

For sure. Schafer's last rope-a-dope trick :')

This team played so well in the last half dozen games. Went toe to toe with teams ranked higher in the tournament. Obviously you don't want the run to end but they did Schafer proud.

100%. ECAC champions. Champions in our hearts. Fought so hard, laid it all on the line. A storybook team, just without a fully storybook ending.

Thanks to you guys, too. I don't think I'd have become such a fan of Cornell hockey if it weren't for y'all, talking with me, telling me stories of the past, and being such a great community. I love all of you.

The one draft pick who mattered most was their mid-year mercenary goaltender; without him we win that game hands down. Welcome to college sports 2025. Given the changing landscape, even in "minor" sports like hockey, it's fair to wonder what our long-term outlook may be for staying nationally relevant.

Makes you wonder if this was our last true shot at it given the changing recruiting environment with the CHL.

Yeah. They would have had no shot in this game without him. We probably would have played against a different team though. In any case, depressing to lose to yet another team playing by different rules.

Wasn't Adam doing radio for that run?

I was - somewhere I have that. Last time I saw Cornell win an NCAA game in person. Ugh.

I am here to read all your comments as therapy. I just can't even ... sad for everyone.

Probably not, but we've already had trouble trying to keep up with perennial powerhouses of college hockey.  It'll be more of the same as far as I'm concerned.  Schafer frequently found a way to put together the right team in spite of a general lack of superstars.  Hopefully Casey will be able to follow suit.
Is next year here yet?

How about hopefully Casey will be able to attract some blue-chip recruits.

BigDingus just posts the most negative take  whenever possible whether or not he has any idea if it is true. He is deeply unserious, he has zero knowledge about how college hockey works. When I post negative crap at least it's based in reality. Not worth engaging with him.

This. Gotta have faith, guys. We may never be a true "powerhouse" team, but years such as this one have proved that we can hang with them. Trust in the process and the recruitment. Things always work out.

Also there was one goal scored which was a real star goal.  We have no one who could have scored bu's second goal. That was crazy.
