Quote from: KenPSo the scouting report sounds similar to MSU.  Very potent offense, good defense not as stellar of a goalie compared to Augustine.  Very hard to beat when they are playing well.  And because they've played against Schafer teams, and playing in a highly competitive Hockey East league... they may not be fazed as much by Cornell's grittiness.

Does that sound right?  Any thoughts on their physicality?  Face offs?  Penalty minutes?
Most penalty minutes in the country. Their face off percentage is worse than MSUs and they have a young team so I like our odds there
Lol come on. You should not like our odds there. Over half their team will play in the NHL. It's been a magical few weeks but let's not get carried away. BU are going to be huge favorites.

I think most agree with that. I give us about a 3-in-10 chance of winning. But that's better than a lottery ticket.

Bad teams have beaten the current Team Draft Pick: Yale (7-5), Merrimack (2-1), Northeastern (5-1).

Fact is that more than any other team in the field, we have the ability to frustrate and shut-down the fancy teams. The last two times we met BU in the NCAAs, it's been the same story as this time: BU, loaded with blue chippahs against a Schafer team. They took both, 3-1 with an ENG, and 2-1 with a CU EAG. Maybe that 30% chance comes up. I'm glad we have a chance to find out.
I agree with 3-in-10

Make no mistake. We are massive underdogs, just like we were against MSU. Doesn't mean we can't win.

All of this is house money. What a ***** run and why not us on Saturday

LETS GO RED

We are +150 moneyline. Not huge dogs.

We are 2-2 in the last four against BU, including a 2-1 loss two years ago in the regional final.  Underestimate us at your peril.

Yegorov is a 2nd rd pick of NJ and only 19. He was on an awful USHL team in the fall and joined BU this semester. He took over the starting role and has been great. He's not as highly rated as a prospect as Augustine yet, but I expect him to be in the discussion of best ncaa goalies the next 2 years.

BU has a potent offense, good goaltending, and optional defense. They're the little girl with the curl. Play tough, don't give them soft goals like tOSU/Shane's giveaway, and capitalize on their mistakes.

Yegorov has been better than Augustine since World Jrs.

BU more talented than Michigan State - Cole Hutson is insane offensively. But not as tough, and prone to lapses and lack of discipline.  If the good BU shows up, no one beats them.  But we'll see.

First, i think 3 in 10 is ungenerous. BU played 21 games against teams ranked below Cornell in the pairwise and went 14-7. Second, you're this mopey about a 1/3 chance? Have some chamomile and stop trying to make everyone else as forlorn as you!

The following is absolutely not a prediction.

BU sounds like exactly the sort of high-flying offense that our style of tough and disciplined defense while still possessing firepower plays well against.

I feel better shutting down a scoring team than I do scoring against a strong defensive team.

Again. Not a prediction. BU is really good and this will be a tough one.

Big Dingus

Not underestimating. BU has ended our tournament dreams twice in last decade. Why would we be a favorite against a stacked team of blue chip prospects? I believe still

And when I hear the book is "sometimes they don't care too much about defense" my mouth waters a little bit.

Never tell me the odds!

This is kind of a perception issue, whether you think 65% odds make you huge favorites or slight favorites.

65% is about as lopsided as it gets for an NCAA quarterfinals hockey game.

Who cares about the odds?

What were the odds for the MSU game?

Just get out there and play. Defense needs to be on point. Offense should be able to generate shots on Yegorov, and he's been a bit shaky recently, though how much of that is on him and how much on the defense is in the air.

Score. Don't get scored on. Play. Win. That's all there is to it.
