Quote from: BearLoverAs I said in the MSU game thread, to beat BU Cornell is going to have to be much better than they were last night. To my eye, MSU had about 4x as many high danger chances as Cornell. That's almost always going to lead to a Cornell loss and certainly against BU.
We need to play better than they did in the first two periods, sure, but if third period Cornell comes out for the first faceoff tomorrow, THAT team beats BU.

I still think the third Spartan goal was as much Fegaras's mistake as Shane's. idk why Fegaras skated past the puck.

You need multiple complete breakdowns by the other team.

I believe that's "The the other team."

This made me laugh out loud.

Also, I dont get this?
THE Ohio State University

Oh right lol, we are THE Big Red University!

"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

13 of BU's top 14 scorers are draft picks. That includes Sascha Boumedienne, who hasn't been eligible yet but is projected as an early round draft pick in the upcoming draft.

Hutson—2nd round
Green—2nd
Eiserman—1st
Lachance—6th
Harvey—7th
Hughes—2nd
Willander—1st
Coppini—7th
Bednarik—2nd
Kaplan—3rd
Boumedienne—early round expected
Svoboda—3rd
Celebrini—6th

The only exception is BU's top scorer, Quinn Hutson, brother of Cole and Lane, both 2nd round picks, with Lane currently tearing up the NHL.

Massive talent disparity incoming.

Wait, there's "another" celebrini?

Nevermind.  Just googled it. Was unaware the brothers played together last year.

So the scouting report sounds similar to MSU.  Very potent offense, good defense not as stellar of a goalie compared to Augustine.  Very hard to beat when they are playing well.  And because they've played against Schafer teams, and playing in a highly competitive Hockey East league... they may not be fazed as much by Cornell's grittiness.

Does that sound right?  Any thoughts on their physicality?  Face offs?  Penalty minutes?

They seem much more skilled on paper than MSU, and less physical. MSU played in the heavy style of Cornell, BU is more run and gun with high octane offense.

Most penalty minutes in the country. Their face off percentage is worse than MSUs and they have a young team so I like our odds there

Lol come on. You should not like our odds there. Over half their team will play in the NHL. It's been a magical few weeks but let's not get carried away. BU are going to be huge favorites.

Coming around on this being a very extreme coping mechanism so that the losses don't hurt as much in the same way that "lfg" is a way of pushing off the fear.

I think most agree with that. I give us about a 3-in-10 chance of winning. But that's better than a lottery ticket.

Bad teams have beaten the current Team Draft Pick: Yale (7-5), Merrimack (2-1), Northeastern (5-1).

Fact is that more than any other team in the field, we have the ability to frustrate and shut-down the fancy teams. The last two times we met BU in the NCAAs, it's been the same story as this time: BU, loaded with blue chippahs against a Schafer team. They took both, 3-1 with an ENG, and 2-1 with a CU EAG. Maybe that 30% chance comes up. I'm glad we have a chance to find out.

I honestly believe this, just as I believe Cornell should be majorly favored against most ECAC teams
