Worked out well today so thought would start the next one LGR!

In '86, I had just moved from CT to Seattle, but came back for a friend's wedding in Burlington the weekend of the ECAC Finals. Fortunately the Saturday wedding was an early afternoon event, so I hightailed it to Boston with a buddy from CT who had gone to Clarkson. Clarkson had a history back then of finding interesting ways to lose in the ECAC Tournament; the whole way down to Boston, my friend was griping about "getting the monkey off his back". Needless to say, all I could do was smile when we met up after the game; couldn't give him too much of a hard time, as I needed a place to stay that night!
"What... is your favorite color?"  "Blue. No, yel--auuuuugh!"

This will be the 6th time these two have faced off for the league title:

Clarkson won in: 1966 and 2019
Cornell won in: 1970 (duh), 1986, 1997.

Reminder since it's not obvious and keeps catching me off guard: the game is at FIVE eastern tomorrow.

Yeah, we really had no business winning that game. That game at Lynah they dominated us. Absolutely dominated us.

But we won! Pretty much sheer will and guile.

And an embarrassing amount of icing as the clock wound down in the 3rd. An embarrassing amount. Whatever it takes.

We were manically applauding every icing, because what else could we do?  One JF Houle scored in the 3rd to make it a miserably tense time for everyone.  Christ, what a game. Schafer knows how to get the most out of overmatched teams.

Didn't see this mentioned anywhere, so...

Near the end of the Clarkson win over Dartmouth, Clarkson scored an empty netter. In the celebration one of the Clarkson players got hurt and had to be helped off the ice. He wasn't putting weight on one leg. He was wearing an "A", and checking their roster it looks like they only have one assistant captain, in which case it was Kaelan Taylor.

It was Trey Taylor - who was ECAC Best Defensive Defenseman Award winner this year. Martino Edwin Diaz'ed him.

Thanks.

My wife thought it was number 4. Turns out she was right.

Here's a screenshot of how I came up with the wrong Taylor.

In those days you could change after an icing, so less of a disadvantage than it is today.

Its crazy that Clarkson manages to win these games, 4 goals on 15 shots.

Yeah - I figure that game was what led to the rule change!
Let's Go RED!

They shut down in the 3rd. I figured J.F. was having them practice sitting on a lead. When it was "close," which it wasn't for long, Clarkson and Dartmouth were about tied in shot attempts and shots on goal.
