CBC recently did an extended interview with former Cornell forward Jessica Campbell. She's the first woman to serve as a bench coach in an NHL game.

I hadn't seen it yet, but here's the first monster (clean) hit Stienburg landed in the game against Tampa, before the one later on that got him suspended:

Quote from: arugulaDo I remember correctly that he was not that aggressive at Cornell?

Announcers mentioned in the clip sah67 posted, above, that he only got 3 minutes of ice time the night before.   And correctly pointed out that if you're trying to cement a 4th line spot, being an aggro wrecking ball willing to do the dirty work and or drop the mitts is what you have to do to stay up.

Then you hope some guys get kicked and you get a few 3rd line shifts where it'd be possible to show some skill.

Welcome to the show.

I enjoyed the first game of the USA-Canada Rivalry series in women's hockey that is kicking off the PWHL season. I was generally impressed with the skill, speed and physicality. I think they are allowing a lot more contact these days in the women's game. The game was held in San Jose at the arena where the AHL Baracuda play (Sharks affiliate).

There were Cornell alums on both sides (Brianne Jenner, Jaime Bourbonnais, Rory Guilday) I wore my Cornell jersey/sweater and yelled out "Red!" during the anthem. A few people in the stands near me noticed and commented.

The USA seemed to have a bit more jump and better goaltending as they got out to a 6-0 lead and won 7-2.

If there were a team near me in the SF Bay Area, I would go to some games. I will also watch the next few games of the rivalry series (NHL network) as I think Canada was not happy about the blow out. Lots of tussling towards the end of the game.

Great that you got to go! Guilday is a current student.

Quote from: VIEWfromKWhile I wait for my morning brain fog to lift so that I can think of someone myself, who would folks consider to be the most recent ECAC above average regular NHLer?  A lot of the recent Cornell guys have settled into role players or are on the AHL shuttle.  Some of the guys around the league that came out of college with big fanfare have also found their footing as role players (Vesey, Donato).  Coronato is up and down.  Who am I not thinking of yet?
Laferriere is now the most recent. 9-6-15 in 17 games for LA this season.
