Cornell is going to wear special black uniforms for the game tomorrow against Harvard.  Don't see changing the outcome, but it'll look cool. :-D

Maybe recruiting.  Kids eat that stuff up. Oregon uses its ties to Nike to never wear the same combo twice and has publicly stated that the "cool" uniforms help recruiting.

Doubt that Cornell is competing for the semipros going to Oregon.  National TV exposure and we don't wear the Cornell colors.  Go Big Black.  Yuck!  At least Archer wasn't that stupid.  Did Schafer ever dress us in black?

It's being sponsored by Nike so they absorb the expense.  It is aimed to degree at recruiting.  Other Ivy schools have wore similar special game uniforms.

I'm not as concerned about the color of the uniform as I am about the defense's ability to get off the field.

What uniforms are more iconic than for example the Yankees and Penn State and the Canadiens. Why? Because they don't water down the image with this nonsense.  A uniform becomes legendary through constancy.  That Oregon business is seen by the sentient community for what it is: a short term gimmick.  If you're going to alter the jersey at least make it your color.

For decades Nike has pushed black because it was considered tough and gang style.  Absurd.

This might be the biggest old guy revolt that I've seen on this forum. Everyone does alternate jerseys sometimes, the players love it, most fans love it, and I think you're crazy if you don't think these black jerseys look great.

I think Cornell's red and white uniforms are some of the best looking in all of college football.   However, college football should always be about the student-athletes who are playing the game and if they get excited about wearing black uniforms against Harvard tonite, then let them enjoy the experience.   Trust me as a former student-athlete at Cornell, practicing day after day after day gets old and having something fun and new is always cool!    See you tonight and Go Big Red!

Reminder that whatever color the team is wearing, the game is at 6 eastern. Which is a weird time I'm assuming is to accommodate ESPN. But I would have been assumed a 7 or 7:30 kickoff.
