The ppg was in the 2nd. Now we're playing the special teams game, it seems. At least the women have a functional pp.
Right.  Score early in 3rd was 1-1 when I had to leave.
Ahh. I thought you said the ppg was early in the 3rd.

Of note, Cornell clinched a first-round bye. Still a lot of work to do for the No. 1 seed. Cornell has also hopped up to No. 4 in the Pairwise, but a long way to go there too.

Izzy Daniel is a late addition to the U.S. roster for the upcoming set of Rivalry Series games with Canada. I think Jenner, O'Neill and Zandee-Hart are on the Canadian roster. No current college players on either roster, as they didn't want to disrupt the home stretch of the NCAA season.

Cornell also up to No. 4 in poll.

Both seem about right. Unless something drastic happens to Wisconsin, Minnesota, or tOSU, it's hard to make the case that we deserve to be above any of them. OTOH, unless something perhaps not-so drastic happens to us, we could fall in the rankings.

But if you look at our record, we've had only one loss since 11/2/24. Our other 3 losses were from 10/18/24 to 11/1/24. It's reasonable to think that without Ivy restrictions on when the season begins, we'd have been better prepared for these early games against opponents who had 6 (Mercyhurst), 12 (tOSU), and 10 (Onion) more games under their belts that we did. In short, as the season has progressed, Cornell has improved. We're probably better than #4 in the polls, but that's fine. The final standings will be decided on the ice. ::cheer::

Cornell ahead 3-0 after second period.

Lots of opportunities in the first but good goaltending and bad breaks worked against us.  A 5 on 3 early in the second got things started and then the breaks started going our way.  Credit to RPI, they are hustling and poke checking like crazy.  I don't think they can keep it up all game, however.

Now 4 zip Cornell in third.

4-0 final.  First women's hockey game for my 5 almost 6 year old granddaughter and my 4 year old grandson after my grandson's first time on skates this afternoon.

Woooo!
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Women survive 2-1 vs Union.  ::cheer::

Union scored early and hustled the entire game.  They also had great luck and great goaltending.  Cornell did not score until the second half of the third period but managed to put 2 in the net to win the game.  It was not easy.

Colgate going to OT against RPI, so Cornell will add to its lead in the standings, and I believe the Red have clinched 2nd place.

UPDATE: RPI beats Colgate in OT, so I believe that means Cornell can clinch the RS title with a win over Brown or a Colgate loss to Yale on Friday. Or if Cornell ties and Colgate does not win in regulation.

Going into the final weekend versus Brown Friday and Yale Saturday, Cornell has a 4.5-point lead over Colgate for the RS title and the right to host the semifinal and final rounds. Yale is 5th in the ECAC, Brown is 8th. Teams get 3 points for a win, 2 for OT win, 1.5 for OT tie (there is a shootout but no points awarded), 1 for OT loss, 0 for regulation loss. One Cornell win is enough to clinch (also one Colgate loss), also two overtime wins or ties, anything that gets Cornell 3 points over 2 games. That max Colgate can finish with is 52 points and Cornell is already at 49.5.

With the RS title, Cornell gets to host the final two rounds, at Lynah Rink. The women's playoffs run like the men's ECAC playoffs: round 1 is the 5- to 12-seeds play off Feb. 22 or 23 (one game), then the survivors play quarterfinals at the top four schools, best of 3, Feb. 28-March 2, no conflict with Cornell men who finish on the road. If Cornell women win — Cornell beat Yale 2-0 in November, Brown 2-1 – it hosts the semifinals Friday March 7 and finals Saturday March 8, rather than in, say, Lake Placid. (This could pose a conflict if Cornell men have to play in the first round. Best guess is women play for the title Saturday afternoon, Cornell men play Saturday evening.)

(Also that weekend: Cornell men's lacrosse hosts #13 Penn State at 12 noon. Dress warm.)

ECAC women's standings as of Feb. 9, one week left to play:
