This may be the weekend to decide who tops the 2025 women's ECAC RS standings and has the best chance to host the ECAC playoff finals. All games including semifinals/finals are played on campus, the higher seeds host each game, and with six RS games left, first-place Colgate leads Cornell 38 points to 37.5 points, the half-point on account of a game tied after overtime awards 1.5 points to each team even though there is a shootout. (Regulation win is 3, OT win is 2 / OT loss is 1, shootout is point-less except to say "we won the shootout.")

This is the weekend with the serious competition for #4 (polls) Cornell/#5 Colgate. Cornell hosts #6 St. Lawrence Friday at 6, #9 Clarkson Saturday at 3, Colgate has the opposite schedule. If Cornell wins both and Colgate loses one in regulation or OT, that'd put Cornell in a position to host the semifinals/finals March 7-8.

Cornell/Colgate close with away games at RPI/Union then at home Feb. 14/15 with Brown/Yale. Yale and Brown are also-receiving-votes in this week's national polls. Union and RPI are 9-10 in the league, ahead of only Dartmouth/Harvard. The first two rounds of the playoffs are similar to men's hockey: Feb 22 or 23, 1-4 seeds draw byes, 5-12 play single games, then Feb. 28-March 2 the survivors play best of three series.

44 Division I teams, soon to be 45 with Delaware next year.  (And I think there is an HBCU in Tennessee aiming to be DI soon.)

Up 1-0 after the first. Seems the giveaway worked, most full B + C I have EVER seen at a women's game. And pep band is playing almost all intermissions!

They just had a short segment with Ashley Messier on the ESPN+ broadcast in which she said she'll be a grad transfer at Minnesota-Duluth next year. (I assume she's getting an extra year of eligibility for that one season she got hurt early on.)

Watching the 3rd, and this team looks FANTASTIC. I expected a small step backwards after losing the Patty Kaz winner to graduation. They've already beaten their 2024 specter in Colgate and are now punishing the #7 ranked St. Lawrence 5-0.

Amazing weekend with SLU and Clarkson coming to CNY, you've got four top-10 teams going at it.

lol why did they pull the goalie.

Down 5 with 1:00 to go is the most optimistic extra-attacker play I've ever seen.
