Quote from: CU77The NCAA selection committee revealed their top 10 on Saturday:

1. ND
2. Duke
3. UVA
4. UMD
5. PSU
6. JHU
7. Cornell
8. Army
9. Rutgers
10. Georgetown

Big surprise here is Army, which was #19 RPI at the time. H2H over Rutgers in the only plausible explanation for this, but it's a real departure from the official criteria.

My takeaway: this committee is whack!
Prior to Saturday's games, I assume?

I haven't watched the top 5 teams play, but I think it's hard to argue Cornell is clearly better than any of them. Our SOS is just that much weaker. Maybe we should be fifth, in accordance with our RPI, but I don't see an argument that we should be higher than that.

As was documented in the book We Showed Baltimore, that type of favoritism is exactly what led to the formation of the NCAA Tournament.

Yes.

One of the things I loved about DeLuca's defenses is that the slides were vicious. They landed like hammers, and the ball usually found the ground. Sometimes I think we hesitate with the slides, but they seemed to come stronger in the second half (what I saw of the second half) in the Army game. That's something I'm going to be watching for against Brown. What will you be looking for?

Brown has an excellent faceoff guy, who dominated Yale on Saturday. Holding our own on faceoffs will be one of the keys to the game.

ILT possibilities:

If Cornell beats Princeton, the top 3 seeds are Cornell, Penn, Princeton.

If Princeton beats Cornell, the top 3 seeds are Princeton, Cornell, Penn.

The Harvard-Yale winner gets the #4 seed.

The Ivies are not helping Cornell's strength of schedule this year compared to 2022.
Last year, six of the seven Ivies made the NCAA tournament

Ben Abladian--anyone know what happened to him?  He was a much heralded transfer and he's barely played this season.  I feel bad about speculating about an amateur player's status, but it seems strange that he would transfer if he wasn't going to play.

Abladian played in the Marquette game. It was either Barry Leonard or Tom Lafalce who said that he was still learning the Cornell offense. He's a junior now. Maybe the plan is to make next year a big year for him.

He played in 3 games and had 2 goals vs Marq and nothing since. It's not like we havn't had a few games with leads to have him play. He missed all of March as well after playing vs Hobart. Have to think there is some injury issue.

How corrupt is the tourny selection now?  It's not purely deterministic like hockey, right?  Does the Baltimore Mafia still have room to do their thing?

Who would you sit in order to play Abladian?

Good point.  I was thinking maybe a second line--depth is always important as we get to the NCAA tourament. It's probably too late for this year, though.

His position is attack. Was he playing attack or midfield against Marquette? That would be one way for him to see more playing time.

how many 4 goal scorers are we holding on the bench in games we win by 10?
