Quote from: Swampy
Quote from: semsoxI will be at the game tomorrow and hoping to see a good effort from the team, though I admit, my recent track record with live Cornell sporting events has been less than stellar:

vs. Princeton Men's Bball Ivy Semis (2022) - 73-77 L
vs. Maryland Lax Championship (2022) - 7-9 L
@BU Men's Hockey (2023) - 3-4 L
vs. BU Men's Hockey NCAAs (2023) - 1-2 L

Please stay home. ::cry::

No, go to the game, but wear your shoes on the wrong feet.

Another great start. Cascadden looks really solid.

* Another game with 3 goals in ~2 minutes.
* Lacrosse is the fastest game on foot and it caught the Harvard announcer flat-footed. On goal #2, a rebound, he said something like, "That happened so fast, a rebound ... I'll get you the name as soon as I can."
* Early action, the video guy has the camera set to a wide shot and still the player receiving the pass stays off camera for 2, 3, 4 seconds. I hope it's a good reason, such as too much weed last night, as opposed to: The guy needs a different profession.

Is it asking too much to have a camera person who knows the game?

Cornell needs to beat those double teams by moving the ball instead of holding it.

mike1960

Harvard has decided that they will not let CJ beat them. They are going to double and hound him. Someone else will need to step up.

mike1960

Our offense is very impatient -- forcing passes to the crease attack, taking quick contested shots. We aren't working for hands-free, high-percentage shots.

up 4-2 with 4:41 left in the first half. Cornell is having trouble moving the ball and maintaining possession but the defense and ierlan have been great.

2 late goals from Harvard and it's tied at the half. Cornell has no flow on offense or, less navel-gazing, Harvard is flowing very well with the passing and cutting off anyone who tries to attack. Really excellent defense on both sides of the field.

I wish Coyle would stop dodging from X and just move the ball quickly from side to side. That's one of the things Mikey Long does so well. Our alley dodges are going to the right side, bringing the defense help toward Kirst. Instead, alley dodge left, swing it around X, and get it quickly to Kirst on a one-on-one and let him work.

More on the announcer: He's giving shoutouts to half the lacrosse world, the Crimson writer who's brother was on Yale's national championship team, the 914 area code, and "West Coaster" players.

I know the rule about offsides is complex -- at all times, 4 of the 10 players on the defensive side, 3 of the 10 on the offensive side, so I can see why after a possession change, Harvard ball in the Cornell end, and middie substitutions, he could proclaim, "We're back to 7-on-7 lacrosse."

mike1960

Are we using new sticks? Why all the bad passes?

mike1960

Nice adjustment to move CJ.

mike1960

Not sure why Follows didn't help with the alley dodge on that last Harvard goal.

mike1960

Impatient low percentage shots.
