Quote from: upprdeckJust hope the boys got an early bus ride and not leaving just now as the weather gets bad.
3-1/2 hours Ithaca to State College, didn't they leave early afternoon Friday? Say 5 hours if it really sucks, that's still less than going to Dartmouth in perfect weather. In Williamsport, a bit past halfway to State College, the forecast says rain and at or above freezing, a "wintry mix" around 9 pm when they should be at the hotel.

Hopefully they don't head to State College

LOL! That would definitely be the scenic route to Columbus ...

mike1960

6-hour bus ride? Doesn't sound like fun.

upprdeck

they pretty much had to drive thru it if they left anytime after lunch.  might have been rain though and 60mph winds

Fact checking is part of the fun here.

My mapping app says it's over 7 hours.

6 hours is getting to Hanover or Allston with a stop, which they do often.

A few minutes with Coach Buczek about the team and the game against Ohio State. I wish we could get an update on Mikey Long tho.

Cornell     4  5  3  4  --  16
Ohio State  2  1  5  5  --  13 Final

Cornell dominated most stats except faceoffs. Shots C60-39, SOG 31-21. GBs, 36-31. TOs comitted, TOSU 20-12. Clears C21x22, TOS 20-23 (just 2x4 final period). FOs, TOSU 19-14. Cornell got 3 penalties, Ohio State 6. Ierlan's save % was .381 (8 sv of 21 shots, his percentage fell off in the second half), Ohio State .484 (15 sv of 31 shots)
-------------------------

Bunch of posts being hit by both sides in the first half. TOSU winning more faceoffs.

Cornell up 6-3 midway through the second quarter. Only 2G (on 4 shots) for CJ Kirst. C'mon, man. 7-3 with 5 minutes in the half. This means we are really better ... or we're about to suffer something of a letdown in the second half. Either one can be Cornell's style.

Halftime Cornell 9, Ohio State 3
Kirst 3G 0A (5 shots), Coyle 2G 2A.  Shots, Cornell 30-17 (on-goal, 17-8). Saves, Cornell 5, TOSU 8. Faceoffs, TOSU 10-4. Turnovers committed by TOSU 9, Cornell 4. Turnovers caused, Cornell 9-4. Those last 2 take a little off the sting of our early-season faceoff prowess.

Second half -- TOSU and Cornell trade early goals, so 10-4. Then 10-5, 11-5 and 12-5 (Wirtheim gets his first of the season). Goals by seven Cornell players. Billy Coyle has 3G 2A now. The one downside to our scoring so many goals is there's a faceoff right after. Cornell's SOG and FO-won total (19) are close to matching TOSU's (18). 5 goals for TOSU, 3 goals and a pipe for Cornell, third quarter ends 12-8 Cornell. A 4-goal lead entering the fourth quarter is not that much.

Fourth quarter -- Cornell needs a goal to stanch the Ohio State run. Done, Piatelli, 13-8, followed by a TOSU faceoff win on a Cornell violation. Goal by Kirst with 12-1/2 to play, 14-8 and Cornell wins the following faceoff. TOSU goal, 14-9. I'd love to see a real-time probabilities read on odds of winnng with a Cornell 5-goal lead nearing 10:00 to play. And another goal by Billy Coyle, 15-9, 10:42 left. TOSU scores with exactly 10:00 to play, 15-10, I like Cornell's chances as much or more than a couple years back when Cornell went up 5-2 on Wisconsin 3 minutes into the NCAA semis; I seem to be blocking the outcome.

Cornell and Ohio State trade goals, 16-11 with 9 minutes to play. Christ, Kirst hit the post, must be 3? 4? 5? pipes this game. 7:25 Cornell goes up for :60 on a slash, shot gets saved; damn, that would've been the dagger. Cornell loses the ball on a shot clock violation with 5:25 left, TOSU (thank you) fails on the clear, down to 5:00 to go. 4:30 left, Kirst shoots wide, again, and a third time all in 15 seconds, but down to 4:13. TOSU screws up the clear. Basics, lads, concentrate on GBs and clears. Down under 4:00. Just over 2:00, Cornell +5 still. 16-12 with 0:46 left, 16-13 with :30 left. From here, TOSU needs a field goal, and Cornell has the ball.

Final, 16-13 Cornell. Ohio State got lucky in Q4, or Cornell ran out of gas late, or just bounces of the ball. Still, a W.

Cornell seems to step it with their second half adjustments, especially on defense.  Then again, they are up 9-3 at the half.

Excellent half. Our defense is outstanding. Adler is a monster

I was reading, ah, I think it was about football halftime locker room coaching and inspiring and some players said, we got some water, went to the bathroom, went out and played the second half.

Cornell95

Big10 officiating feels a bit different
Lack of replays and some very strange calls

at 5-3, tOSU thought they had scored but the official apparently though it went off the corner instead of in and out
Cornell than ran off 4 unanswered, could have been very different if the goal was granted and we had been at 5-4 mid-2nd

Chase called for using his hand on the ball, did he think there was a restart and he put the ball in his stick? ball caught in gear?
Cornell defense forced turnover near crease, I thought dman was pushed in to our crease, officials gave ball to tOSU

anyways, glad to be up 9-3 at half =P

Al DeFlorio

Seems like OSU gets every ground ball on faceoffs.

And Kelleher needs better shot choices.

OSU taking advantage of our O-middies having to play D.
