CJ15 has 3 inches and 20 pounds on JT51 (if you believe the roster pages), and therefore is harder to shut off.

CJ also has a better head coach than JT did.

Quote from: billhowardAfter the third, Hobart game: You can always find a couple stats that look good when you lose. In this case, when you win big:

Cornell is the blue-collar team of the Ivies (well, certainly not HYP). Ground balls are blue-collar. Versus Hobart, Cornell 44-20.

CJ Kirst went 7G 4A 11 points. 7 goals on 9 shots. Good enough. Extrapolate that for the regular season (um, yes, the competition gets tougher): 69-22-91.

Chase Ierlan was on fire: 7GA, 16SV, 70%SV%. He looked good.

Cornell goals allowed YTD by half: 16 vs. 7

Faceoffs have not been Cornell's forte since, ah, TD Ierlan decided to transfer from Albany to Yale-not-Cornell (and then Denver). At Hobart, we won 13 to Hobart's 15. Moral victory.

As of the start of this week, only four top 20 teams are unbeaten: 1. Maryland, 2. Notre Dame, 3. Cornell and 12 St. Joseph's. It still seems as if we have not been tested. TOSU and Penn State are up next. Those will be challenges. I wonder what will be the highest-rated team we play in 2023 ... an Ivy?

I also didn't like how Milliman handled the shut off. There were all kinds of ways to get the ball into Teat's stick -- off ball picks, V cuts, etc. Why allow the other team to take your best scorer (the best scorer in the college game) out of the mix to achieve a 5 on 5?

DeLuca did the same when Pannell was shut off by Harvard in 2011.  He'd stand alone in a corner of the field away from everyone.  David Lau went 5 and 3 in a one-goal win.

There's an obvious answer, although I agree with your analysis. The answer is the coach believes the remaining 5 players are better than the other team's remaining 5. It's sort of like Harvard hockey playing 3 v 3 in tied games. If the addition of the other team's best defender reduces your chance of scoring by 20% even with your best offensive player in the mix, then taking both of them out of the game might give you a better chance of scoring.

But, as I said, I don't think this sort of analysis applied to Teat in most instances, but Milliman apparently did.

Maryland's Tillman realized that he didn't have to use his best defender to shut off Teat.

so b10+ is $10 for a single school 1 month pass.. I dont think there is any single game deal or way to get a credit if you cancel after the day..

I have subscribed for a month and canceled with B10 successfully, I think for the Penn State women's hockey game last year.

It's not easy funding the Big10 especially defending all those lawsuits. If anybody deserves the money, it's them. Their needs only increase when the B1024 defends the eventual anti-trust lawsuit.

ECAC we get all the schools for $10 a month and we have no tv money really.. B10 has oooodles and cost you 2x3x as much.. And probably way more subscribers given the size of the schools.

Just hope the boys got an early bus ride and not leaving just now as the weather gets bad.
