Quote from: French RageOh Vegas is fine in small doses.  We enjoyed the hockey weekend, just enough time to see the craziness but not get annoyed with it.  I'd be more than happy to have a couple more hockey tournaments there and a FF on/near the West Coast is awesome too.

We have friends who have lived in Vegas for a decade.  They've never been to the Strip.  It is a vacuum cleaner to suck the wallets of moron tourists and keep the Life Giving Water coming.  Imagine Times Square with attractive people.

Tell me, what's wrong with Times Square? Basically within a block in any direction you have some of the best entertainment you can find.

In regards to "attractive people", you're going to have explain to me what you mean.

Once upon a time, the "best entertainment" was right in Times Square!

Can't beat the "Tendersweet Fried Clams".

Let's talk about the present, okay?

The title of the YouTube you linked to: "Dirty Seedy Old Times Square and 42nd St. ("The Deuce" ) before gentrification"

So you still didn't tell me what's wrong with Times Square.

The two years I lived in Salt Lake, I drove to Santa Barbara about a half-dozen times, and Vegas was actually an important milestone since it was, at the time, the first In-n-Out Burger en route to California.  Aside from that In-n-Out and assorted gas stations, I never actually spent any time *in* LV, despite driving through it repeatedly.

I did visit Hoover Dam once, though.

When Dr. Mrs. was on hill staff we got the "double secret" tour.  You would absolutely eat it up.  The behind-the-scenes stuff at HD is incredible, and that's from a layman.  A physicist would appreciate it 100x more.

I took the regular tour 35 years ago.  Even that was impressive.
