2021 Cornell lacrosse looks promising:

* Cornell finished the truncated regular season unbeaten, 5-0
* Cornell ranked 2nd in final Inside Lacrosse and USILA polls behind Syracuse
* Cornell beat Syracuse 17-16 in the NCAA title game (per Christian Swezey sim)
* Jeff Teat returns for a fifth year (will not follow Cornell coach Peter Milliman to Hopkins)
* Top 4 scorers returning (5 games played, 2 ppg or more)
  1 Jeff Teat          27pts  - Sr (5th year) in 2021
  2 John Piatelli      23     - Sr
  3 Jonathan Donville  20     - Sr
  4 Michael Long       19     - So
  [s]5 Cooper Telesco     14[/s]
  [s]6 Connor Fletcher    11[/s]

* Connor Buczek '15 elevated to head coach after 5 years as assistant. About the same age as when Dick Bertrand '70 was elevated to hockey head coach, the difference being Buczek had 5 seasons to adjust to being a coach, where Bertrand came late to Cornell and went from being team captain to HC.
* Delbarton AA attack CJ Kirst coming to Cornell (from NJ Delbarton, same as Michael Long)
* Goalie Chayse Ierlan is back for junior year
* Faceoff isn't bad
* Princeton, #3 in the polls, loses AA attackman Michael Sowers to Duke for his fifth year.

It would be good to see a tentative 2021 schedule including who we're playing early in the season from outside the Ivies.

Now, we just have to have on-campus instruction spring semester 2021.

I might have missed this but did we know

"All players, not just the seniors, were given an extra year of eligibility."   Quote from the UV coach Tiffany

I thought they had said just the SRs but know its the whole team?

Let's hope he becomes a dominant FOGO for us.

Marc Psyllos – Face-off/Midfield – 5-8 – 190
Manhasset, N.Y. (Manhasset HS)
Prior to Cornell
• Helped Manhasset HS to the 2019 Long Island and Nassau County championships.
• Recipient of the inaugural James C. Metzger Lacrosse MVP Award after helping Manhasset to the 2019 Long Island Class B Championship.
• Named the division's Co-Face-off Specialist of the Year.

With Petrakis coming off a strong Freshman year and Graham having some experience, Psyllos looks like another quality option. Also with the new faceoff rules, some guys will adapt better than others, so you need a few options.

Cliffs on the new rules?

No motorcycle grip allowed and FOGOs must work from a standing position (knee can't be on the ground). TD Ierlan says it will have to be a new approach for him.

Some stories suggest a good team will win only 60% of faceoffs in 2021, vs. TD Ierlan's 75%. More groundballs, fewer clean wins. We'll see.

According to Very Rusty Red on the Fanlax forum there are 3 of last year's seniors besides Teat coming back.  He raised the query does anyone know who they are?  Anyone on the Elynah site know?

The admin already destroyed the hockey program for at least 5 years so doubt they'll do any different for lacrosse.

I think we'll be back at the top of our game in three years, but I've always been an optimistic person where hockey is involved.
