If I remember right, Big Ten Network got the rights to the Frozen Four simply because it was interested in carrying the event and the NCAA really wanted a TV broadcast. Previously, the games were only available at the NCAA site. (And good for BTN, which does promote its member schools even in sports it does not sponsor, like women's hockey.)

I seem to also remember that ESPN has first right of refusal to NCAA tournaments other than men's basketball, so obviously they weren't interested in the women's hockey.

No B1G women's hockey league. They still use WCHA.

This is an NCAA event and I suspect they put it out for bid and B1G Network was highest bidder. As mentioned, it's probably because of Minny & Wisc. They get reasonable crowds and considering the number of times either has won it, there will likely be a reasonable viewing audience. Simple and we should be happy that someone carries it. Can root for Clarkson and OSU to upset the works.

The BTN website says Fox Sports carries BTN shows. So if you already have a cable package that gives you Fox Sports, you're probably ahead of the curve.

The good news:  I get Big 10 Network at home.

The bad news:  For the semi-finals I hope to be in Lake Placid, so lord knows what TV options will be available to me.

The package we have on FiOS, which we had to get in order to receive any of the specialty sports channels besides just plain ESPN, includes BTN. But for some reason not NESN, to the eternal dismay of dss28, die-hard Red Sox fan.

Fios has BTN standard and then a raft of BTN Ochos if you spring for it.

According to the athletics site, Saturday's game will be streamed here:

(It can't be on ESPN+ because NCAA tournament games must be streamed free.)

Just be careful if you're going to watch it on your smart TV or with something like an AFTV. The actual link is https: //portal.stretchinternet.com/cornellbigred/portal.htm?eventId=594190&streamType=video. So either reach it from here or be careful how you copy.

I didn't realize ELynah would change the URL. I went back an put a space after the colon. Now people should be able to see the correct URL.

Maybe some genius out there can explain why a perfectly good URL, with things like "cornellbigred" in its path, displays on this forum as only the top-level part of the URL.
