Quote from: upprdeckthere a lot of pretty good value eating places in vegas, never been to any on this list though.

Yup, great places in Chinatown, the Arts District and elsewhere than are totally worth the taxi/Uber fare from the Strip.

Quote from: WederI'll be there in one of the GA sections. Note that there is an official alumni reception before the Friday game if you feel like spending $50 for hot dogs and popcorn (a relative bargain for the Strip!)

You forgot "nachos, and mac & cheese; along with a selection of beer, wine and soft drinks". You also forgot that you get to hear from Mike Scafer and spend time with fellow alums and Cornell Hockey enthusiasts. I happen to think that is worth more than saving a few bucks. But you did alert me to this event and for that, I thank you.

Given that I missed Cornell at MSG for the first time, I'm making up for it by heading out west.

I will be there!  My wife got us tickets for combined X-mas/birthday!

Seating: section 5 first day, section 6 second day.
Lodging: MGM Grand

Gonna arrive a couple of hours before on Friday, so a quick zip to the arena!

didnt realize until today that the vegas games on going to be on FLO TV..

also noticed that Cornell didnt bother on their schedule page to post  the starting time in EST thus having to think abit about when the games are actually going to be on..

question isnt  it est/edt or pst/pdt  not PT as the proper abbreviation?

I hear "Eastern time" more frequently than "Eastern standard time" these days.  It always rings weird to me too though.

if your clock is still set incorrectly in January that's on you

There is nothing in my life that +/-  hour will ever make a difference that matters.

Even game-time at Lynah?   Hmmmmm...

does this explain why so many people seem to show up in the 2nd period?

You sure? I didn't see it on the FLO schedule

Quote from: upprdecknever sure but this implies it

Ok. That makes sense.  The games are listed in the flo app, but listed as Fortress Invitational. They don't list the individual teams playing in the tournaments. (Which is dumb for so many reasons)

Huh?

15 Places For Cheap Food for Under $20 in Las Vegas

I thought the whole point of food on the Strip is bring in suckers customers to lose money gambling to experience the thrills and excitement of gaming.

If they still have nickle slots, one way to stay within budget is to buy a roll of nickles and pass a couple of hours playing the slots, while the casino offers you free drinks. It's a fun cocktail hour. The last time I did it I came out about $35 ahead.

I mean, the "cheap" places on that list are no bargain. The pizza place, for example, is about $6 a slice. I was mostly joking about the reception being a bargain, but the fact is that the cheap food days of the Strip are largely long gone.

I guess it's been almost 20 years since I drove through Vegas, but isn't there an In-n-Out Burger on the strip?  Back when I was living in Salt Lake, it was the first In-n-Out on the drive to Southern California.

There are apparently 5 In-and-Outs in Vegas.  There's one on the far side of the freeway from the arena.

Not that I understand the fascination.  Their burgers are bland and their fries are usually too dry.
