Next Year's Expectations 2018-19

Seems like an underwhelming alternative to:

Stay, win championships, and then get a taste of the pros afterwards, likely ending up in better situations at better pay all the way through.

Or:

Stay, get a diploma, get a great job, and start racking up the Benjamins while your colleagues languish in the ECHL or the mid-Cambrian League.

But, hey, what do I know? Siren songs are well nigh irresistible.

Another motivation in play is the parent club talking with the family & advisor and saying "he has the best chance to develop and 'make it to the NHL' by joining our farm system, developing under our coaches/trainers, and playing 70 games a year. It may take a couple seasons, but we'd be much more interested in this kid if he were under our control."

Now it just so happens that a coach like Schafer now has a reputation at developing the defensive depth and toughness that a lot of players at this level may need to advance into the pros, which may help belay that urge.

Also some NHL franchises trust and respect the college development system and others don't.

5% of you people consider a national championship to meet your expectations?  ::wow::

Huh.  All I can say is if we win the 2019 NC$$ title and I don't wake up the next morning in a shopping cart inside the guanaco exhibit at the Buffalo Zoo, I'm going to be very disappointed.

There's a zoo in Buffalo?  And they have guanacos?

Cool!

Yes. And no. But we've got slightly over a year for contingency planning.

That's OK.  I've seen them in the wild.  So seeing one in a zoo would be a bit of a let down.

C'mon, man - I've seen Greg in the wild, too. It can be a little hard to take, but that doesn't mean we should lock him up.

While I'm majorly bummed out Cornell's hockey season is over, what this forum becomes in the off-season is a bit of a consolation.

They stuck a fucking children's zoo there.  Probably not the best place to turn up drunk and disorderly at 5 am.

In all honesty it appears to be a really lame zoo.  Guess I'll need to keep looking.  Where's the mayor live?

Is that the same white chevy that Ron Howard drove in American Graffitti???

Doesn't look like it. The AG one is pinstriped and has a 4-barrel 348, and three-speed manual transmission. I think Mayor DePasto would have driven an automatic. Also, according to the link, the original AG car was sold in 1972 for $285, after its involvement in shooting the film was over but before the film was released (in 1973) and the car became iconic and as valuable as John Voight's convertable. Shooting of Animal House didn't begin until 1977. The original car was long gone by then.
