Weekend series against a NCHC team that has struggled this season, which makes this an important game for ranking purposes. Miami hasn't played since the weekend before Thanksgiving. Tonight's game is on ESPN3.

15 mins until puck drop, some sort of fuckwittery is on WHCU.  ILDN is running but has not connected to the rink yet.

Man, never seen Lynah so empty for a regular season game.

BearLover

Crowd filled up a bit.  Someone tell Cornell to cover the guy trailing the play on offense...

Somehow we found a way. Much thanks to Gillam for keeping us in it

BearLover

Certainly some impressive speed and skill in the younger players.  ::cheer::

I'm not sure if Gillam's incredible play as of late is just a good thing, or if it's hiding the fact that maybe we're not playing as well as I think.

And I'm usually one of the optimists here.

the big thing i saw is that we have better skilled guys with the puck than the last few years, but we still lack speed to take advantage of it.   miami with their speed got into too many good spots but we managed to make plays or get a save or they hit a pipe.  4-3 us is good.  we probably maxed out our chances , miami probably should have earned a couple more.

best thing this team does is not panic when they go behind early which seems to be the theme this year.  tomorrow is bug for PWR since Miami looks much better than their record now that they have a few injured guys back and playing.

Well, one Miami shot did hit a post and one went in a split second after the goal was dislodged...and they outshot us.  To survive all the injuries we've needed to get lucky, and thus far we have.

Team PDO is 102.1. Definitely a bit elevated. The process needs to get better if we're going to survive the inevitable regression toward 100.

We didn't have many grade-A chances, but we sure capitalized on the few that we had.  I agree it's not a recipe for long-term success. We need to do a better job possessing the puck; we won very few puck battles in the offensive zone.

Up to #17 in PWR after tonight's action, from 23/24ish.

102.1 isn't terribly lucky though. I believe around 95% of teams will be within 2.25 (above or below) of 100. Another reason for optimism is the affect that injuries could be having. Inserting Kubiak and Buckles back into the lineup could help offset some of the regression that might occur

No, you're right its not super lucky, but I'm just concerned since our puck possession numbers aren't good, and likely won't get better as we play better teams.
