Patsy's Pizzeria, the famous Manhattan-based pizza chain founded in 1933, is opening its first Upstate New York location in Ithaca on Thursday, Aug. 27.  The chain, which has locations throughout New York City, Rockland and Westchester counties, is partnering with Promise Hospitality Group at the Ithaca Downtown Marriott to bring its New York City-style pizza to the Finger Lakes.

Several years ago, when visiting my sister in Manhattan, we had dinner at the original location in East Harlem.  As I recall, the food was excellent.

The article notes that this will be Patsy's first restaurant in upstate NY.  Not true — as someone who grew up on Long Island, any place north of The Bronx is upstate!

Is this replacing Monks as the Marriott's restaurant? I had a pretty underwhelming brunch at Monks last month when I was in town (at least it was free), but maybe they knew they were on their last legs.

I never bothered with Monk's anytime I wanted to eat a brunch in Ithaca and stayed at the hotel. Cafe Dewitt was always a great option within walking distance.

Yeah, I normally wouldn't either but I was dealing with a knee injury. It was a bit of a struggle to even make it over to Bike Bar.
