And the ECAC's reign of terror ends after two titles and three straight years with a team in the Frozen Four.

Quote from: TrotskyDenver wins 5-2.  BC and Minny winless in this year's tourny, and all is well.

If you think that's what makes all well, you haven't been reading this forum the last few weeks.

Quote from: martyRIT, reminiscent of 2010 over Denver in Albany!

I was about to jump all over their press release in my Facebook feed claiming it's the first time #16 has beaten #1, but apparently it's true since Holy Cross in 2006 and RIT in 2010 were #15s. (I assume Bemidji State in 2009 as well but I didn't check that one since it has bad associations.)

Yes, and when I saw that PC player heading toward an ENG, I couldn't help but flash back to Randy Wilson & wonder why the current PC player didn't skate the puck right to the net (instead of shooting from a ways out).   Apparently, he's not read the PC hockey history books....

If North Dakota wins, I'm giving up on everything.

I don't find this outcome comforting in any way.

You and me both.  In fact, I started thinkoing about that as they blew their 4 goal lead.

The Harvard outcome by itself is comforting.  Particularly the reaction on the Harvard USCHO thread.  The generalized ECAC outcome is not.

Providence (and Leaman) headed to the Frozen Four. Another intriguing playoff year.

say what we want about lack of offense, but several games were low scoring affairs to show that defense can win games in this thing too.

In the first two rounds, one NCAA tournament quality team won with fewer than three goals while playing another NCAA tournament quality team.

We regularly scored one or fewer goals against schools like Princeton.

There were actually three winners with less than 3 goals if you disregard empty net goals.  UNO-Harvard and Providence-Denver were each 2-1 plus two empty net goals.  Nevertheless, we need a lot more scoring.

mich T- st cloud was 2-2
yale - bu was 2-2
rit- minn was 2-1
bu-minn was 2-2
rit - neb was 1-0 until very late
neb-harv was 2-1
prov -den was 2-1

und - quin was 3-1
und - st cloud was 3-1.

half the games were 2 or less with under 5 to go..

RIT would have gotten to the final 4 with 2 goals a game had they gotten to 2.

yeah we need to score more to get in,  but style has shown if we get in 2-3 is all you need to advance most of the time

"One-and-Done U."  (Quite pleased I haven't had to use that in a while, but I haven't forgotten)

There was a possibility of having 3 of the 4 teams in Boston be Boston teams (Beanpot II). I was cheering for them all to get shut-out, because that would have been rich. In the end, we're left with the least distasteful (to me) one.

We do.
