Quote from: Chris '03SCSU just tied MTU in closing minute. MTU player, under almost no duress, failed to gain the red line when shooting for an empty net. He missed... SCSU scored shortly after the resulting icing. On to overtime.
And now MTU loses.  Geez, tough one.

Yeah, seeing that box really disappointed me. It had been a long time for them...
A friend of my wife, and the only person I've met down here who knows college hockey, is an MTU alum.  I was really rooting for them.  All the Yoopers (MTU, NMU, LSSU) are cool by me.

Trotsky

Quote from: IcebergThis is fairly reminiscent of Providence/QU in last year's tournament.
Did PU kick the shit out of them?  Because that's what this looks like to me.  :-(

Q scores.  3-1.  1:30 to go.  Q will still have the pp + the extra skater once they get possession.

Trotsky

4-1 NoDak.  Suboptimal.  The Crimson are our last hope tomorrow.

MTU was dominating the OT. Guy tripped over his own feet, lost the puck, two on one the other way. Bang. Season's over.

Just saw it on replay.  The MTU goalie just stayed down on the ice.  It was sad.

Having now seen the replay, geez! That's crushing. MTU bandies used to show up randomly all over the place—the Frozen Four, WCHA Final Five when they weren't even in it... you get the idea. That fanbase is the definition of diehard, and it's been wonderful to see them get the chance to be happy again. What a tough way for their first season back from obscurity to end.

Yet, looks like they've built something out there. Not a senior-dominated team, and their goalie's a junior. I bet they'll be back.

Pearson was a longtime assistant to Berenson. The efforts of Jamie Russell notwithstanding, considering what Pearson started with, he must be one helluva coach and recruiter.

The one-two punch of the GTG setup by the bonehead icing and the winner was just brutal.

Iceberg

3-1 Denver over BC about midway through the 3rd now. BC has had their chances but Denver's been able to largely negate their big forwards.

Edit: 4-1 now. 0:49 between the last two goals

Trotsky

Denver wins 5-2.  BC and Minny winless in this year's tourny, and all is well.

marty

RIT, reminiscent of 2010 over Denver in Albany!
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Iceberg

This Providence/Miami game not surprisingly very physical with guys running around. 1-1 in the 1st.

Swampy

Was Friars 6-2, but Miami pulled its goalie with over 11 minutes left. Now 6-3!

Don't think I've ever seen anything like this.

Iceberg

6-5 Providence now with 1:33 to go. The Friars just haven't been able to hit the empty net.

Trotsky

Harvard takes 2 penalties in the final 6:30 to ensure their loss.  21 years since their last tourny win.
