Who knew Tim Thomas had a son?

Nice way to get your 15 minutes of fame in 15 seconds. If you were a college admissions committee that hadn't acted on his app, maybe you could revisit his maturity level.

Not that we all haven't *thought* about some get-even futile gesture but it will be more permanent than tattoos.

Please. It's not like he was pit-fighting dogs or anything.

My son the goalie's comment -- "That is ridiculous."  Who would ever want that guy on their team -- athletic or otherwise?  Selfish, immature and short-sighted.  If I were his parent, I would be cringing....

Think about the Matt Molsoun story that has been published in a lot of different places:  A kid cut from a lot of teams growing up, ridiculed by other kids' parents as being a "loser"....What was his response?  To work his butt off to prove them wrong and to achieve his goal to play in the NHL.

+1 for the "who would ever want that guy on their team" bit.

My beer-league team used to have a goalie who would give up whenever we got our butts kicked. If the score came to be something like 7-1 because we were playing a team in a higher division, he'd stop blocking shots, and sometimes would actually skate away from the net if the opponents got an odd man rush. Meanwhile, the rest of us were still there giving our all, even though we knew we'd lose. He was not invited back next season.

Given the dynamics of beer leagues, it's surprising that he wasn't politely "re-educated" the first time he pulled that stunt.

What?  A high school kid acted selfish and immature and was short-sighted?  That's front page news!

I don't condone what the kid did. Hopefully he'll grow up and in a few years remember this as a funny story that he's not proud of. But it does make for a funny video.
