Does Cornell have any recruits that will likely be taken in the draft?

cbuckser

Nobody is likely to be selected.  Brian Ferlin and Mathieu Brisson might be late-round selections.  John Esposito and Andy Iles are also eligible for the draft for the first time, but their size has them off the Central Scouting Service's radar.

Perhaps not worth a new thread, but since Andy's name came up here - He's been invited to the National Junior Team Evaluation Camp this summer.  If he makes the team, he'll miss the Estero tournament, but it would be a great experience for Andy.  Dave LeNeveu missed Estero one season playing for Canada's team in the World Juniors.

Have there been any ECAC players taken?

Edit: Danny Biega (Harvard) taken 67th overall, 3rd round, Carolina.

Joe Faust, taken 114th (4th round) by New Jersey is going to Princeton. Chris Wagner, taken 122nd in the 5th round by Anaheim is headed to Colgate next year. Zach Hyman, taken 123rd by Florida, is headed to Princeton. Kenny Agostino, taken 140th by Pittsburgh, is going to Yale.

Sounds like it is unlikely Faust will attend Princeton: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/fireice/comments/devils_fourth-round_pick_114th_overall_d_joe_faust_bloomington_ushs/

UPDATE: Quote from Lou:
"Defenseman Joe Faust (fourth-round pick) de-committed from Princeton earlier this month. Do you expect him to attend college elsewhere or play junior or somewhere else? (Faust said he would look for a WCHA college closer to his Minnesota home).
'He's going to make a decision, but I believe he will be going to college.'"

Would guess it ends up being UMD, St Cloud, Mankato, or Bemidji, but that's just a guess (or list of the D1 schools in Minnesota other than the Gophers).

TimV

Hmmm, he wants to play closer to home...Isn't Ithaca closer to Minnesota than Princeton?;-)
"Yo Paulie - I don't see no crowd gathering 'round you neither."

Redscore

Let's see - UMD, St Cloud, Mankato, or Bemidji versus Princeton.  Hmmm, what a tough choice.  What's wrong with these kids nowadays?

No, he wasn't

FWIW, the first season since 1998 no Cornellian or future Cornellian was taken.  26 were taken in those 11 intervening drafts.

That's true for today, but how can you tell who might be a future Cornellian?::whistle::

True, but have we ever had a guy commit after he was drafted?

I think Jim was speaking in a broader sense.

Yes, I was being stupid. Obviously, nobody can be sure who might eventually go to cCornell.
