His reflexes and gut instincts are excellent.  But I agree, he skates out of the net too far sometimes and once he comes well out of the net, he does do things that are unconventional.  With more self discipline, he could be really great next year.
Haven't we been saying this, or at least thinking it, ever since he's worn a Big Red sweater? I would think that he should have had the discipline to be a little more cautious coming out of the net this season. Or at the very least after the Yale and Brown games two weeks ago.
Even with this issue, he is still a very good goalie.  He isn't playing to his full potential, but you would hope that Cornell would be able to win on a night when he only gave up one goal and his save % was 0.928

Oh, fully agreed on all points. I'm not trying to say he shouldn't be between the pipes, but I think next season we're all still going to have to hold our breaths every time we see him push away from the net.

No, I mean after nearly giving up that empty net goal when he screwed up skating out of the net to control the puck earlier in the game.  He simply shouldn't be making that kind of mental mistake after this long as the starting goalie.

You can afford to bench a player for stupid mistakes in the middle of the season.  In March it's not such a great idea.  Especially for a goalie whose backups have had very little ice time.

He certainly can't do it in game 2 or 3.  But he could have done it in game 1 with the same outcome.

However, is there anyone who would have felt great if he had changed goalies? Yes, I know I'm opening a can of worms, but I can only imagine the outcry if he had changed goalies and that goal had been scored.::cuss::

I just replayed Jason's call of the RPI goal, but it wasn't too descriptive other than went high glove side. Was Scriven's screened at all? Was it poor (no) reaction to the shot?
Kyle - did you mean he should be benched after giving up one goal on 30+ shots 57 minutes into the game, or did you mean we should be skating 6x5?
I think you mean one goal on 10+ shots, since RPI had 14 shots the entire game.
Um. Oops?

I've never seen a goalie at this level of hockey who seems so clueless out of the net...while being simultaneously utterly confident in his puckhandling skills.

Patrick Roy was so enraged at being overlooked that he ripped another door off its hinge ::cuss::
