Harvard wins season series 3-0. It could just be randomness. I'd still vote for "Harvard has Cornell's number."
I'm 100% displeased with our switch towards being smaller.  I think Schafer acted rashly in changing the team's style. It was is if he said - these teams get me to an NCAA Quarterfinal, but no farther. Now we're stuck with small teams who can't even make the NCAA's. Hopefully, we can get some more big guys and return to being the Red Army team we were in years past. I've been a huge fan for year and years, but I'll be very disappointed if we get away from what made us so good.
I suspect it might have had more to do with the change in rules (or interpretation thereof) than anything else. If the caretakers of the game deem this the age of speed and offense the staff needs to figure out how to best adapt.

Of course, I'd take a Topher Scott on the team any time. :-)

Oh I certainly think the rules changes had a lot to do with it and I'd take 2 Tophers on every team. That being said, I'd also take 7 O'Byrnes, a Hynes and a Baby, etc. We were simply a better (and more entertaining) team when we were bigger and imposed our will on other teams.

There was a really nice moment tonight.

As the team left the ice after the stick salute, Sawada, Krantz, and Scott stopped and wrapped their arms around each other (Topher in the middle, of course).  They paused for a few seconds with their heads bowed taking in the moment, then headed down the tunnel for the last time.

Nice.

True. One might suggest, however, that Cornell was able to impose their will on other teams, in part, because of the rules that were in place during that period. That was the game and Cornell played it exceptionally well.

Coincidentally, the WCHA team that plays a style most similar to Cornell is probably Wisconsin. The past two years Wisco is 34-34-11.

Seriously, Scrivens was #8 in the nation in GA and #7 in Save %.  Leveneu, et al put up their fantastic numbers facing 20-22 SOG, Ben saw 29.  Who was the last Cornell goaltender to see that many per game?

What on God's-green-Earth more would you like him to do than the solid performance he gave us all season?!?

How about we have him skate to the other end and score the goals?

Cornell was in the top 10 in the nation in defense and on the "We Suck" list in offense.

This year's team had two problems, offense and inconsistent defense.

Goaltending was probably the only area we didn't have to worry about all season.

At this rate, it might be worth a shot :-P

Ithacat, in my view, I'm not sure the rules in college hockey have changed all that much. The difference between NCAA penalty calling and NHL penalty calling is vast. After watching a good deal of the NHL this year, I can't believe all the things that go uncalled in college.

That was a nice moment. Topher's mother was sitting a few rows behind me, and she was crying as she watched her son leave the ice for the last time wearing the Cornell sweater.

Well, DiLeo saw four shots in the 3:11 he played -- that works out to a little over 75 per game  :-O

All seriousness aside, a quick look at http://www.tbrw.info/ shows you'd have to go back to 1998-99, when Matt Underhill faced 30.2 per game.

...and an 18.848 GAA (for that game, anyway).

I want him to post a shutout every time he takes the ice. I don't expect him to though.
