Schafer needs to pull a Mark Morris on them.  By which I mean the beating of sense into them, not the consistent postseason choking.

Maybe the coach who had an off night, too. Perhaps Schafer will provide the inspiration and leadership Saturday for Cornell to steamroll Clarkson.

Good suggestion because his the public criticism of the players and his continued whining has semingly not worked.

It's interesting and disappointing to see that he has acted in the same manner he used to chastise Morris about.  What goes around comes around?

Nevertheless, I expect we'll see a max effort from the red tonight.  These teams need little external motivation as they do not like each other.

A semi or final meeting in Albany would be great to see.

Did anyone else who was listening to the CSTV radio broadcast last night notice that on at least three separate occasions that I can recall, Jason Weinstein alluded to Schafer's continual whining to the referees?  I do recall him saying that the SLU(t) fans were starting to get on Schafer's case about it.  In all fairness to Jason, he did not use the term "whining" but that was definitely inferred...at least from where I was sitting/listening.  This has to be an embarassment to the players which ultimately could affect their individual performances...notwithstanding the PK and PP. ::dribble::

Having said that, LGR!!!

I get after Schafer as much as anyone about bitching to the officials but he actually had a case on the second goal.  That was a blatant hand pass right before it.  Penalties are usually subjective calls but a hand pass is not.  Two officials were looking right at it and they didn't blow it down and it ends up in Cornell's net.

As badly as they played for parts of this game, Cornell could have actually won.  Take away that bull shit goal and the Scrivens beach ball third goal and it would have been a different game.

I've been complaining about the leadership for a while.  I've been happy with Carefoot but Bitz and McCutcheon have been passengers for most of the season.    I place some blame on Schafer too considering he has stuck with some of these guys as long as he has.  Should also point out that Scott's play has dropped off significantly since the RPI-Union weekend.  The powerplay has been essentially the same trying the same thing all season long.  Hasn't worked since the fourth game.  As much guilt lies with Schafer as it does Bitz IMO.

Yeah, and as I told a few of you at the game, while Schafer was complaining, the SLU announcers said, to the effect, Schafer is asking why that wasn't a hand pass. They called it right away, at least the were honest about it.

Edit:  Put in wrong game thread.  See Clarkson post-game.
Maybe they need to learn a little more about hockey as evidenced by the "Empty net, clap, clap, clap-clap-clap"  when Davenport went to the bench for delayed penalties.  ::rolleyes::
I honestly think they were trying to be funny with this one.::thud::

Nice to know the Comfort Suites got round tables.  Hopefully they had fridges for the beer, and not a safe that one fills with ice to put tuna salad in.  [/Frozen Four inside joke]
Those only work if you're really, really drunk before you put the ice in the safe.

The one consolation to finding out about this result is that I was in Brazil at the time. :-D

That should not have been a consolation. That should have scared you to shaking.

The only thing that scared me about being in Brazil was needing to seek medical attention there.  (If you're ever in Salvador, seriously consider staying at Ambar Pousada.  The rooms are not luxurious, but the atmosphere is friendly, you meet lots of people ranging from 20ish backpackers to retired couples on holiday, and the staff are beyond helpful.  The owner actually drove me to a clinic and translated for me, which shows what you can expect when the chips are down.)

Anyway, it was a sprained ankle and a small fracture in my foot, and I ended up with a cast and crutches, and am now being seen to by what I assume are the finest German doctors.

No anesthesia required, thank goodness.  Although the doctor did try to diagnose me using someone else's xrays before mine had even been taken. ::uhoh::
